🚨 Zootopia, Encanto and Indiana Jones Projects in the Works for Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

The Destination D23 fan event is currently underway at the Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World, and today is an exciting day! Josh D’Amaro (Disney Parks Chairman) dropped some big news in a presentation entitled, “A Celebration of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.” This panel gives fans the inside scoop on what’s in store for Disney Parks, with a look at projects, experiences, and products. There are always some exciting surprises unveiled and we can’t wait to fill you in! Although there were plenty of alluring announcements, some big updates were shared regarding Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Bruce Vaughn of Walt Disney Imagineering joined D’Amaro on stage for the highly anticipated portion. Let’s take a look!

Zootopia Show at the Tree of Life

Last year,  Moana and Zootopia were teased as possible replacements for DinoLand U.S.A. Not much was revealed, but fans did get a sneak peek at the concept art. (See below)

While Moana is no longer being considered, Zootopia will be celebrated via a new show at the Tree of Life! An image shown at the presentation features Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, and other beloved characters from the franchise. An animatronic is also in the works! It seems Zootopia will eventually replace It’s Tough To Be A Bug. Disneyland’s California Adventure version was removed along with Bug’s Land, so it’s not unlikely. We’ll just have to wait and see!

Two Popular Franchises Possibly Heading to DinoLand U.S.A.

So, what does Disney World have in mind for DinoLand U.S.A.? Bruce Vaughn shared that the area will be reimagined into something completely new! The foundation for the land will be the Tropical Americas. Animal Kingdom will celebrate authentic experiences from around the world through the lens of Encanto and Indiana Jones! Although these franchises are still under consideration, interestingly, the DINOSAUR attraction is very similar (utilizing the exact ride system and path) in orientation to the Indiana Jones Adventure ride at Disneyland. Are Dr. Seeker’s days numbered? Here’s a look at the new, conceptualized land in full, as well as Encanto on its own.

Encanto is being considered to take over the Chester & Hester area of DinoLand:

Animal Kingdom is such a unique park, celebrating the value of the natural world, connection to animals, and adventure. Although we don’t yet know the timeframe for these projects, we can’t wait to learn more about their progress.
