Splash Mountain, a long-standing icon of Disneyland’s Critter Country, has completed its final drop. The nearly 34-year-old attraction closed permanently yesterday, May 30. In today’s MiceShots article, we bid a heartfelt farewell to this beloved water flume ride. We were in the park yesterday to say our last goodbyes to the attraction and took a refreshing dive into the famous briar patch. Now that Splash Mountain is closed to transform into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (which is supposed to open late in 2024), we’re celebrating the legacy of Disneyland’s wettest mountain one last time.
Final Day Crowds
The fans of Splash Mountain came out in full force for the attraction’s final day. From the park opening until late in the evening, Splash Mountain commanded a 2 to 4 hour waits!

An hour before park closing, Splash Mountain still had a 4 hour wait!
It's 10 pm and they've just closed the line for Splash Mountain at #Disneyland. But it was still listed at a 4-hour wait at the time the line was cut off. It's going to be a long night for the cast. pic.twitter.com/vgqdh70EXB

We shared a live video around 5pm to check out the craziness around Splash Mountain. Long lines and lots and lots of activity around the mountain:
And after surveying the scene, we took the plunge ourselves! Join Dusty for a final ride on Splash Mountain… and you don’t have to get wet like he did!
Even the Disney Legend Tony Baxter, the Imagineer behind Splash Mountain came out to see his creation one last time.

Sadly, Splash Mountain wasn’t in great shape for its final days. Burnt-out lights, broken effects, and less-than-optimal show conditions made for a less-than-perfect final ride. And while we’ll always have fond memories of this old classic, we’re also looking forward to what’s ahead with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Learn more about the upcoming attraction in the article below:

And now, lets remember Splash Mountain one last time…
Splash Mountain
Since its grand opening on July 17, 1989, Splash Mountain has been making a splash with its over 100 audio-animatronics, many of which were originally part of Tomorrowland’s defunct “America Sings” show. The highlight for many is the thrilling 52-foot drop into the briar patch – a heart-stopping moment that guarantees you won’t leave without a good soaking!

Dusty shares this nighttime video of Splash Mountain as it returned from its last refurbishment nearly one year ago. This video shows the attraction is in much better show condition than the one at the top of the article.
