We don’t cover the international Disney Parks as often as the American parks, but it’s nice every once in a while to see what Disney’s doing elsewhere in the world. Let’s take a look at what Shanghai Disneyland is offering this Spring:

Shanghai Disneyland Dancing in the Park
Now that things are warming up in China, Shanghai is blossoming with fresh colors and new experiences. Two famous dance artists, Zhu Jiejing and Wang Jiajun, stars of the Shanghai Song and Dance Troupe, surprised guests when they appeared as the Honorary Pilot of Mickey’s Fairy Tale Special Train, the park’s parade. They later danced in front of the Storyteller sculpture in the park.

Run Disney is “Disney Run”
In May, Shanghai Disneyland will launch the 2023 Parent-Child Spring Run, a 2K run around Star Wish Park. Children 5-12 are invited to join this special run. The popular Disney Run will return in the Fall, with character experiences and special entertainment events during the run.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique
The Shanghai version of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Colorful and Changing Salon, located in the castle, is finally returning after multiple park closures in 2020 through 2022. Little guests can become princesses or knights in a magical makeover that also features a photo salon to keep those memories forever. The experience is wildly popular over there.

Lots of fun with the Disney Friends
With Duffy and friends joining Mickey and friends, the term Fab Five is left in the dust, so the Fab Five plus other friends plus Duffy and friends equals Disney Friends. The two groups often do dance numbers together in the park, and now guests can get close enough to shake hands or hug the Disney Friends again.

MeiMei, the red panda from Turning Red, made her debut at Shanghai Disneyland in early March to a fantastic reception. During Pixar Days in June, guests will have an opportunity to get close to MeiMei for hugs and photos. MeiMei is only at Shanghai Disneyland, not any other resort at this time.
Disney Friends also have inspired tasty treats in the park. At Magician’s Secret Snacks in Dreamworld, they now have treats sparked by Winnie the Pooh and friends. After an adventure in the Hundred Acre Woods, guests can try “Winnie the Pooh Ice Cream Series” (is that honey ice cream?) or a Tigger tail sandwich. Guests also have new Pooh and friends merchandise to take home as a memory of their magical day.

April is Earth Month
Spring is the time to get outdoors and embrace nature. This April, Shanghai Disney Resort will encourage both guests and cast members to protect our home, Planet Earth. For the main part of Earth Month celebrations, Shanghai Disney Resort is working with the Shanghai Forestry General Station and the Shanghai Wildlife Conservation Association to hold the 42nd annual “Shanghai Bird Love Week” in Wishing Star Park, steps away from the entrance of Shanghai Disneyland and Disney Town. For the first time, the resort will launch a series of themed activities to help guests learn more about birds. (Let me grab my binoculars and I’ll be right over!) Wishing Star Park has been conducting regular bird observation activities. So far, 121 species of birds have been observed in this vibrant natural habitat and urban wetland park.

On April 19, the first Disney Nature Conservation Forum will be held in Shanghai Disney Resort to discuss important conservation issues and inspire practical actions. The well-received “Praise the Earth” Eco-Bazaar from previous years will also return to Disney Town on the same day, inspiring and encouraging guests, cast members and community members to take positive actions together and effectively implement environmental protection commitments.
Chip and Dale, known in Shanghai as Chichititi, celebrated their birthday on April 2, and Shanghai Disneyland is holding celebrations throughout April. The mischievous chipmunk brothers are featured at Adventure Island in the Chichititi Swing Party, where their friend Chrissy (we know her as Clarice) will join in the fun. Here are some of the products from the “Chichititi Birthday Series” and “Chichititi Honey Language Flower Fragrance Series”. There will also be birthday cake and other treats to round off the celebration.

Marvel-ous May
May is Marvel Month at Shanghai Disneyland. Mickey and friends will appear in Tomorrowland in new outfits inspired by their favorite Marvel superheroes and will star in an all-new show. Mickey’s Fairytale Train will start with the Avengers Deployment Vehicle loaded with Marvel Superheroes, and there’s another show, The Avengers Special. Marvel fans can purchase special merchandise and try some out-of-this-world Marvel eats, including a brand-new black truffle burger and French fries, as well as a variety of snacks and desserts. Star Terrace in Tomorrowland is guests’ Marvel-themed food headquarters.

June: Pixar and a Duck
June will be Pixar Month at Shanghai Disneyland, and the park will have new Disney/Pixar themed activities, including a bunch of new Pixar characters: Sullivan (Sully), Strawberry Bear (Lotso), Lele (? A search shows Lele to be the female volcano in LAVA, but I can’t see a meet and greet with her and not Uke.) and Sad (Sadness).
June 9 is Donald Duck’s birthday! Shanghai Disneyland and Disney Town will feature a variety of activities to celebrate Donald Duck’s birthday throughout June. Visitors can take photos with “Giant Donald Duck” in Disney Town, or enjoy a meal in the new Disney-themed restaurant “Donald’s Dine n Delights“.
The resort is covered with Spring flowers and full of springtime delights with the Disney Friends and other activities and celebrations.
