Wait for it… That seems to be the mantra for Disney fans. Wait for big announcements. Wait for those things to finally happen… or often not happen. But this week we’ve got some really good news on a couple of fronts that should help shape a better creative future for the Disney Company, and for Disneyland in particular. And we hopefully won’t have to wait for it too long. Today, we’ll take a look at big changes ahead, new creative leadership, Bob’s pricing paradox, the opening of a new store, the reopening of a major land, and updates on the construction boom. All this, and a slew of beautiful rainy day photos.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

But first, a one-two punch that is likely to reshape the trajectory of the parks…

Bob Iger Knows Things Aren’t Great

The tone of Disney fans toward the parks has taken a nosedive since the parks reopened nearly two years ago. At first, guests were willing to put up with reservations, shuttered facilities, limited selection, and high prices… but as time has gone on, and even as beloved attractions and entertainment have returned, sentiment has declined compared to just a few years ago. The park experience has become both difficult and very, very expensive. Everything from park tickets, food, merchandise, and hotel rooms has skyrocketed. Together they make the experience truly a luxury for an ever-smaller demographic of diehards.

We know that things can’t remain this way forever, this isn’t a successful strategy for the future, and now we know the issues are apparent to Bob Iger as well. Speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference last week, Bob admitted that the Disney Parks have been too aggressive with their price hikes:

“I’ve always believed that Disney was a brand that needed to be accessible and I think that in our zeal to grow profits, we may have been a little bit too aggressive about some of our pricing. I think there’s a way to continue to grow our business but be smarter about how we price, so that we maintain that brand value of accessibility.”

Of course, he’s not just saying that they’ve gone too far… he’s also admitting that they still need to grow revenue but be more clever about it. But we all know that the issue is so much more than just price. The park experience has also become prohibitive to many guests with too many hoops, hurdles, and difficulties for something that is supposed to be fun. In the process of trying to wring as much money out of every guest as possible, Disney forced its guests into an aggressive digital initiative that seeks to hook you on expensive pay-to-play schemes (Genie), hard-to-get reservations for dining, mobile ordering, mobile check-out, virtual queues, and… of course… theme park reservations. For many former fans, the whole thing has just become too difficult. And while many younger guests seem to be rolling with the punches, many older guests just can’t figure it all out… or simply don’t want to.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!
So many guests pay for the extra cost Lightning Lane that sometimes even the line for that is unacceptably long.

We’re just putting this on Bob’s radar… Disney needs to address more than just price, it’s time to make the whole experience easier, less planned, and bring the joy back to the Disney Parks experience as well. But don’t get us wrong, we’re encouraged. It’s a very positive sign that after first focusing on the pain Disney+ is causing the company, Bob is now taking an inward look at the very profitable Parks division as well.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!
The future of Disney design? Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen remodel concept art

When Bob returned to the company, he held a town hall where he assured Disney employees that creativity was at the core of everything Disney does and that he would be putting decision-making back in the hands of creatives.

One need only look at the drab experiences in Avengers Campus and Downtown Disney to see that Disney hasn’t exactly been firing on all its creative cylinders lately. It almost feels like mall operators have taken over the running of many Disney projects (thankfully we have a truly creative one we’ll share further down in this update).

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!
The characters are great… but the land is a concrete jungle without enough shade or things to do. Tiny shop, no indoor seating, standing room only Dr. Strange show.

But that may soon be changing. We learned early last week that a former head of Imagineering, Bruce Vaughn, would be returning to co-lead the creative heart of the parks with current WDI President Barbara Bouza.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

That means a creative check and balance is back at Imagineering. And, for those of you who don’t know Bruce. Before he left the company in 2016, he held creative roles on many big Disney projects such as Tokyo DisneySea, Mystic Manor and Grizzly Gulch in Hong Kong, Shanghai Disneyland, and even rescuing Disney California Adventure with new themes and concepts designed to give the failing park a lifeline.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!
Tokyo DisneySea

But returning to an old role isn’t always easy, as Iger will be able to tell him. There will be bitter resentments from those who were passed over for the role, or the hundreds who have been terminated as Disney seeks to relocate as many jobs as possible to Orlando. And there may even be resistance from those who already have projects in the pipeline as Bruce will want to see changes to many things (or cancel or replace them entirely). But we think now is a great time to reexamine ALL of the projects green-lit and given budgets during the Chapek era. And… hopefully some great projects which got Chapek-era budget cuts can be returned to the project plan (Mary Poppins, original Avenger’s concept, EPCOT Festival Building, New Tomorrowland, we’re looking at you).

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!
Here is the Mary Poppins attraction poster that Disney showed at D23 Expo 2019: Epcot’s United Kingdom pavilion will welcome the first attraction inspired by Mary Poppins. Guests will step in time down Cherry Tree Lane past Admiral Boom’s house, then enter Number 17, home of the Banks family, where their adventure will begin. (Disney)

And we have good reason to be hopeful. Bob is on record that he wants to expand the capacity of the parks… “(adding) new capacity or new attractions… it gives us the ability to service more people. The more attractions you have, the more people have to do.”

And as Disneyland seeks approvals from Anaheim, its residents, and business for the Disneyland Forward project (which could bring a 3rd park to the Disneyland Resort within a decade), they need some big plans to present that look worth the years of construction and changes to the city. Bruce will have ideas, and Bob will hopefully have a massive budget for it. We certainly hope the project is more akin to the quality of DisneySea and less like California Adventure.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!
Overview concept rendering of DisneylandForward’s proposed third theme park site.

And Disney’s California projects may reach beyond the Disneyland Resort… “We actually have more opportunity in California than people are aware,” Iger said. We know that Disney is building a new housing development near Palm Springs. And Walt Disney himself tried to build a ski resort at Mineral King in Sequoia National Park. So, it appears, that Bob is thinking big… at least we have good reason to hope so.

Disneyland Avatar Experience On-Par with Animal Kingdom’s Pandora?

When Bob Iger first spilled the beans about an Avatar “experience” at Disneyland, he did so quickly as an aside without any supporting information. But, because he used the word “experience” instead of “ride,” “attraction,” or “land,” many interpreted this to mean that it could just be a small project. However, according to an article on D23 last week, the experience seems to be more substantial… in fact, D23 claims it will be as amazing as the experience at Walt Disney World’s Avatar land.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

“While details on the coming Avatar experience remain under wraps, it promises to be as amazing as those found at Walt Disney World Resort. “If you’ve had a chance to experience Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, you have a pretty good idea of what Imagineers are capable of,” said Disney CEO Robert A. Iger when he announced the plans on February 8.”

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!
Add some crazy plants…

But let’s do a little more sleuthing. Because Bob said “Disneyland,” many folks have assumed the new “experience” will be located in Disneyland Park. But, “Disneyland” is a catch-all phrase for the entire resort. In fact, D23 altered a quote from an Avatar cast member to make that point clear:

Bailey Bass, who plays Metkayina clan member Tsireya in the film, told D23: “I am over the moon about the Avatar expansion to Disneyland [Resort]! As a huge Disney fan and fan of the Avatar rides in [Walt] Disney World, I am so excited for Avatar fans to be able to experience the world of Pandora at Disneyland. I cannot wait to see what the Avatar and Disney team creates. I already know it’s gonna be awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping, and magical.”

Disney added the “[Resort]” to that quote. So, as you put your creativity to work trying to figure out where that new Avatar experience will go, not that Disney specifically didn’t want you to assume Disneyland Park, which has us thinking DCA.

I’m still thinking of Grizzly Airfield as a potential location as they attempt to tie all areas of the park to a proven franchise.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

Most of the buildings already match the abandoned Military look.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

And there’s room in front of Soarin’ for additional queuing if needed.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

Soarin’ Over Pandora? It would certainly be better than the poorly produced “Over the World” film.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

But that’s just food for thought. Where do YOU think Avatar will land at the Disneyland Resort?

(Now… because I’m en route to Orlando for a press event, I’m turning the rest of this update over to Nathan and Mike. But you’ll still see some of my photos below. It takes teamwork to make the dream work)

Crowd Conditions

The Spring Break season has officially started at the Disneyland Resort. MiceChat staff members were at the resort Wednesday through Saturday. And when it wasn’t rainy, the parks were buzzing with guests.

On Wednesday, mid-day, the queue for Alice in Wonderland was wrapped around the attraction and ran down the parade route, ending just before the Alice and Wonderland Restrooms.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

At times, Fantasyland was a crush of people with long attraction waits.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

The usual pinch point in New Orleans Square was pretty crowded at times as well.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

And, as the daytime crowd began to depart as the Princess Night after-hours party was ramping up, Main Street came to a stop!

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!
The projection show ended, but the crowds inside Disneyland had trouble exiting because of Princess Party guests trying to enter!

Guests were shoulder to shoulder. It felt like old times… in the worst possible way.

Rainy Day Fun

You’ve seen how busy it got during a busy fair-weather day this week, but when the rain rain rain came down down down on Friday the park absolutely cleared out! From packed to practically empty in 24 hours all thanks to Mother Nature!

These shots were around 11am…

And around noon at DCA…

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

Even the popular Food & Wine Festival cleared out once the rain started.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

But there were a few brave souls buying Food & Wine Festival foods… even carrying the food around trying to find dry spots to eat.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

Though, we’re never a fan of soggy napkins…

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

Of course, Disneyland wasn’t really built for rain. So you’ll find large lakes of collected rainwater just pooling from a lack of drains.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch! , Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

Take a look at Main Street and the Hub and notice how few drains there are.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch! , Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

But if you don’t mind getting a little wet, not only is the park absolutely gorgeous with a bit of rain, the added benefit of a lack of crowds goes a long way towards making a magical day.

Yes, some outdoor attractions close…

All Aboard at EngineEAR Souvenirs

At long last, EngineEAR Souvenirs, the only shop in Toontown is now open!

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!
The entrance to EngineEar Souvenirs

I was the very first guest to ever walk through these doors. It’s always fun to see something new.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch! , Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

Although Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway has been open since January 27, the gift shop (that also serves as the attraction’s exit) had been behind curtains and guests would just walk straight through. As of March 10, the store opened with an assortment of attraction-themed merchandise.

While the full merchandise assortment will be available when Toontown officially opens on March 19, the store opened with a small assortment of interesting things.

Not-So-Magical Princess Nites

The next round of Disneyland After Dark events took place this week. On two nights, there was a specially ticketed Princess Nite after-hours event. We heard that the party got mixed reviews from guests.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch! , Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

The main draw to Disneyland After Dark events is getting to see rare characters. As implied by the event name, the characters were all princesses. This event brought out some exclusive characters like Princess Leia and Kita from Atlantis: The Lost Empire

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch! , Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

The event was difficult for several reasons. We heard that wait times to meet characters could get up to an hour long! For a 4-hour event, that means you’d really only be able to see a couple of characters and maybe a ride before the event was over. Furthermore, there were problems clearing day guests out of the park, which delayed rolling out party-exclusive entertainment.

There was a special cavalcade featuring Giselle from Enchanted along with projections on Main Street and small world. Additionally, there were some music performances along the Rivers of America.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch! , Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch! , Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

Although the events were listed as “sold out” online, there were tickets available for purchase the day-of. For $129, this party was quite expensive for what was offered. The next Disneyland After Dark is Throwback Nite (themed to the early era of Disneyland, the 50s and 60s) next month; tickets for both nights are still available ($129-$145 per person).

The party-exclusive merchandise included this t-shirt. Talk about uninspired!

Easter at Disneyland

The start of spring is just a few days away with the Spring Equinox on March 20. However, Disneyland’s springtime season is already in full swing. The colorful flowers across the resort are in bloom, the resort’s candy makers are creating wildly popular Chocolate Fudge Easter Eggs, and the Children of the Corn are dressed in their Easter best. Here’s a quick look at how Disneyland is celebrating spring.

Easter Treats

There are a few springtime delights to be found around the Disneyland Resort. There are the usual assortment of cookies, rice crispy treats, and cupcakes…

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch! , Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch! , Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

The real treat is a limited-quantity specialty item, Chocolate Fudge Easter Eggs.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

These delights are only sold on certain days of the week (we’ve heard Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday) in the afternoon with a rotating set of flavors. These candies are so popular that they literally fly off the shelves. We were told that the recipe has been revamped this year to make the fudge inside smoother than ever. Check out the line that formed on Wednesday that stretched well past Coke Corner:

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

We were told that making and selling the Easter Eggs is a two-day process. If you see eggs being made in the window, you won’t be able to purchase them the same day.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

For Disneyland’s equally popular (or perhaps even more so) handmade Candy Canes, Disney announces a calendar of what days the candies will be available and where. Plus the resort also utilizes a virtual queue to keep the number of guests and number of candy canes under control. We wish that Disneyland would implement something similar for the Easter Eggs and inform guests when and where the treats can be purchased, and what flavors will be available.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

Eggstravaganza

For those of you with kids and/or good eyesight, the fun Eggstravaganza activity has returned throughout Disneyland, DCA, and Downtown Disney as of today. There are hidden character Easter Eggs throughout the parks and Downtown Disney locations.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

If you opt to purchase a gameboard (that are different for each location) for $9.99, you can redeem it for a collectible egg even if you don’t complete the scavenger hunt. The Eggstravaganza gameboards are available from March 13 through April 9; keep in mind that the last opportunity to redeem a prize is April 9, so plan accordingly.

We won’t give away all of the eggs’ hiding spots (there are some new, creative locations this year!), but here are a few that we spotted on our trip to the resort this week: , Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch! , Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

Easter Dining

While the resort will be open on Easter (April 9), it doesn’t appear the restaurants are planning on anything special in terms of dining.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

We heard that Tortilla Jo’s may be doing a brunch (not specific to Easter). It’s possible that there could be Easter dining options coming, but now announcements yet.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!
Tortilla Jo’s offered an Easter Brunch in 2021

Our go-to recommendation for Easter Brunch was always Catal. However, we were told that won’t be an option this year since the last day of operation for Catal is April 15.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

Both Catal and Uva Bar are getting completely new concepts as Mexican establishments in the near future.

We DO expect that the snack cart at the Grand Californian Hotel will be returning in time for Easter treats. Here’s what was offered last year:

Springtime Florals

Across the resort, the colors of spring are in full bloom. Between the freshly planted floral gardens, the Pink Trumpet/Pink Lapacho Trees in Disneyland and DCA are starting to bloom, and everything looks dewy and bright. Here are just a few of the glowing displays of nature we found:

Food & Wine Festival Recap

DCA’s Food & Wine Festival kicked off last week, and we’ve been making our way through the whole food list. Here’s how we’ve stayed entertained with the festival this week.

This week, we figured we would try out the entirely-vegan fare at Paradise Garden Grill.

We previously tried the “Bulgogi” Fried Rice, so we opted to use Sip & Savor tabs for the Impossible Gyro Fries and the Buffalo Mac and Cheese. We were pleasantly surprised that both dishes were actually quite good! Although vegan food isn’t always a major draw for us, the flavor came through without feeling like it was vegan food masquerading as something tasty.

Delectable Delights: Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival Guide 2023!

Spring Break Anticipation

For some parts of California, Spring Break has already begun, but for other parts of the country, Spring Break is happening in the next few weeks. While the break from school is much appreciated by students of all ages, it’s also an ideal time for families to plan a vacation— and often with Disneyland as the location. Here are some tips for visiting during Spring Break.

Expect Crowds and Long Waits

Spring Break is one of the busiest times of the year for Disneyland, so you should prepare yourself before heading out in the next few weeks. If you keep in mind that tourists from all over will be making a trip to the resort, that helps set expectations. That isn’t to say it won’t be a good time, just that you may want to shift from focusing on rides with long waits to smaller attractions, shows, festivals, and people-watching.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

During high-traffic days, Disneyland’s food service can be painfully slow. While most tourists may not be Disneyland app savvy enough to Mobile Order everything (which is in itself a problem in our book), standby lines become very long. In situations like this, we recommend checking out DCA’s Food & Wine Festival since everyone will essentially be on even playing ground in terms of waiting for food. Of course, you can order once at a food booth and pick up at multiple locations if you already know what you want.

Watch Entertainment

Because so many tourists are drawn to attractions, Spring Break is a great chance for Disneyland regulars to catch a show or two and avoid waiting in particularly long queues. The Tale of the Lion King is playing at the Fantasyland Theater daily, and the Royal Theater’s Storytelling is actually quite entertaining— even for adults.

Enjoy Nightly Fireworks

This week, the tradition of nightly fireworks returns! While we think that Wondrous Journeys is a great show even when it’s just projections, the added fireworks help make everything just a touch more magical. Take a look at this gorgeous 4K video of the firework-plussed version of Wondrous Journeys below:

Opening Date for The Villas at Disneyland Hotel

The stylish new tower at the Disneyland Hotel finally has an official opening date. While it was teased that the Disney Vacation Club tower will open in September 2023, the actual day was just announced this week. Starting September 28, The Villas at the Disneyland Hotel will be open to guests.

While the tower is intended to be a DVC location, the first bookings will actually be open to anyone. DVC members will have first dibs starting March 15, followed by Magic Keyholders on the 16th, and the general public on the 17th. We imagine that the reason this DVC tower is being operated as a regular hotel for (presumably) a little while is to help drum up excitement for DVC and to convert new members.

Construction & Refurbs

There are numerous projects going on around the resort. Let’s see what progress has been made this week.

Disneyland Projects

Adventureland Treehouse (September 1st, 2021-2023)

Again, not much visual progress on the treehouse, but we have seen many construction workers in the construction area. If you look hard enough, you can see elements of the attraction but nothing of note.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

The construction walls still offer no clue on when this project will be officially wrapped up.

Indiana Jones (Jan 9- Spring 2023)

Indy is well into its extended refurbishment. We are anxiously awaiting the return of this popular, crowd-absorbing attraction.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch! , Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

As we passed by on the Monorail, we were able to see one of the ride vehicles under the tent. The ride vehicles are actually worked on inside the show building itself in a well-equipped maintenance bay.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

We have a feeling there will be some surprises to tie into the new Indy film releasing June 30th.

Tiana’s Palace/French Market + Mint Julep Bar (February 17 – TBA)

The conversion of French Market to Tiana’s Palace continues. The printed scrims add a bit of visual interest while the building is getting worked on.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

It’s unfortunate that the print of the building wasn’t carried all the way across the entire scrim. The back side is just stripes.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch! , Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

Main Street Cinema had a sign outside that the attraction was unavailable because it was under refurbishment. However, it really just closed for a Princess Nite exhibit. We were actually hoping the Cinema was getting an update to switch out the animated shorts with something that showcases the 100-year history of The Walt Disney Company.

Nothing to see here…

The attraction was open as normal on Friday.

Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage

While not under a current refurbishment, the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage subs have been getting new tail fins due to significant corrosion issues.

We aren’t crazy about the new bolt-on design, but it looks much better than rust stains.

But don’t despair, the attraction is overall in pretty good condition.

DCA Projects

Grizzly River Run (January 9 – March 16)

Over at DCA’s water attraction, the basin has been refilled ahead of the attraction’s reopening. While we aren’t planning on riding it the moment it’s available, we do appreciate the kinetic energy it adds to the Grizzly Peak trail.

San Fransokyo

With Grizzly River Run getting its basin refilled, this meant that the lagoon of San Fransokyo/Pacific Wharf also got refilled since they are a shared body of water. Now that the lagoon is full, the rest of the bridge is ready to be finished.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

We hear that some major progress on the bridge should be happening this week (weather permitting). The towers are on their way.

Our favorite location to eat while at Pacific Wharf along the water is currently blocked off and unavailable.

The new location for the beer cart is still being worked on. The cart will be moving to the corner of Cucina Cucamonga since the spot it’s currently at will be the Baymax meet and greet.

Downtown Disney Projects

Monorail Entry

The repaving project in front of the Downtown Disney Monorail loading station continues. We’re not entirely sure how extensive this project will end up being, but so far it’s changed quite a bit of the pavement already. There are several different kinds of pavement used in this particular area that make a bit of a messy appearance.

Home Store/Wonderground

At the Home Store / Wonderground construction area, we have seen scrims and plastic sheeting go up in the areas that used to be the windows. There appears to be some new steel framing in part of those windows.

Additionally, it appears that our suspicion that the atrium of the Home Store and Wonderground are turning into a second story is correct. Framing and support structures for a second floor have been installed. Our guess is that this will become additional seating for the new restaurant taking over Catal.

Jazz Kitchen

Jazz Kitchen de-theming is well underway. The overhead covering has been removed. It will be replaced with a bland taupe-colored shade covering very soon.

Here’s a reminder of what the completed transformation is supposed to look like when it’s finished. So boring.

Will the iconic saxophone be saved from destruction?

West End of Downtown Disney

There isn’t a whole lot of visible progress on what’s happening at the West End of Downtown Disney. Although Disney has not publicly announced when this project will be finished, according to a website from the city of Anaheim, it is expected to wrap up in 2025! That’s a long time from now! Would you have expected this project to take that long?

This & That

Let’s tie up some loose ends with the recent happenings around the parks.

Iconic Disneyland Train Returns

Disneyland Railroad fans are sure to have noticed that the E.P. Ripley has returned to Disneyland. The engine is pulling Holiday 5 (the blue inward-facing cars) much to the delight of parkgoers. While not everyone will know (or appreciate) the history, we think our readers are the ones that will. Disneyland President Ken Potrock shared a post about the return of a classic Disneyland engine.

Minnie Floral is Back!

Last week, we mentioned that the Minnie floral from last year hadn’t returned. We’re happy to say that on International Women’s Day (March 8), Minnie is back at the front of Disneyland!

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

We’ll see this portrait fill in with color as the flowers bloom over the next few weeks.

Say Hi to Guido!

The lovable little forklift, Guido, is back at the front of Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters in Cars Land. We’re not sure why he was removed and behind construction walls for a few weeks, but we’re glad that he’s back.

Saint Patrick’s Day is This Friday!

It’s that time of year when Shamrock Shakes and green beer return. The St. Patrick’s Day festivities can also be found at Disneyland. First off, you’ll want to say an Irish blessing for the Little Man of Disneyland, Patrick Beggora, and stop by his humble abode in Adventureland.

If you’re not familiar with the story of The Little Man of Disneyland, be sure to take a moment and acquaint yourself with a bit of classic Disney folklore in the article below:

You can also pick up some St. Paddy-themed treats around the resort. Items include shamrock-shaped rice crispy treats,

Magic Shop Receiving Updates

There are some upgrades coming to the Magic Shop on Main Street. We wrote a few months ago that the shop has recently come under new ownership, and the first changes have taken place. Some of the shop’s offerings have been updated with a few new selections as well. The big kid on the MiceChat team, Mike Kindrich, was in the shop last week and was most interested in The UFO Card, a levitating playing card.

The Cast Members in the shop are always happy to show you their favorite tricks and answer any of your illusionist questions. This little store is an underappreciated gem at Disneyland, so be sure to stop in and check it out!

Photos Say More Than We Do

We’re pretty verbose here at MiceChat — but as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. So let’s let them talk…

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

More spring flowers have been planted in Disneyland. Here are some photos from around Disneyland.

Did you notice that the hanging flowers in the hub match the Disney100 color scheme of purple and platinum (as much as possible in the plant world)?

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

I’m sure we’ll be seeing adorable little ducklings any day now.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

The faux lawn in Toontown is sure getting some attention, and that’s even before the picnic basket is available for purchase!

It appears that Tilly at the Main Street Cinema has been dressed in a new Disney100 outfit with silver and purple, complete with purple macarons as a snack.

The Millennium Falcon is absolutely stunning at night.

And though we wish something more exciting happened here, the TIE Echelon looks great at night too.

We absolutely love seeing Disneyland in the rain. Although it can be a bit difficult to navigate and find shelter, the beauty of the park always makes getting a bit wet worth it.

, Disneyland Update – The One-Two Punch!

The Rainy Day Cavalcade isn’t as exciting as a parade, but it still offers a lot of charm.

It was neat getting to watch Wondrous Journeys’ projections in the rain.

The magical lights of Main Street reflected in the puddles of rainwater.
