Chasing Waterfalls
We see so much water around the Disneyland Resort. From the various water features and water attractions to the Rivers of America and Paradise Bay, there is always beauty on display that the talented Imagineers and artisans have crafted for the parks. This week, we’ll take a look at the many waterfalls that serve a variety of functions in Disneyland and California Adventure.
Disney California Adventure:
For today’s photo essay, let’s start in DCA. There’s a lot of water in this park. Grizzly Peak is my favorite of these water features. Two different waterfalls, one on each side of the mountain offer greatly different views.
Parade route side of Grizzly:
As you walk through the center of the park, you’ll find the large waterfalls that flow over the giant rocks into what looks like it would be a refreshing place to cool off on the hot summer days, or could be a spot for a romantic photo in the evening.
Back-side of Grizzly:
This hidden gem of a spot is just below the flume of Grizzly River Run. It puts off a constant mist amongst the shade of the pine trees, just past the final drop for the attraction. The loud water is great for drowning out the sounds that come from the rest of the park. It’s a gorgeous spot to take a break or take a cool photo (pun intended).
Disneyland Waterfalls:
While riding Pirates of the Caribbean, you find yourself going over a couple of falls, ending up in an underground cavern with its own waterfalls before finding yourself in a port with battling pirates.
The Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage takes you right through 2 water features.
Big Thunder Mountain is my favorite attraction with waterfalls. This spot is just as fun to photograph at night as it is during the day.
One of the best hidden water features is located in Pooh Corner. It’s tucked back between the exit of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and the Pooh Corner shop.
I think the award for the tallest waterfall at Disneyland goes to the Matterhorn Mountain. There are a few large falls that you careen by as you race your bobsled down the mountain, before splashing down into a pool.
Our final water feature comes to us from the planet of Batuu. As the queue for Rise of the Resistance winds through the cavernous mountain that hides the rebel base, you will find yourself walking by one of the most serene waterfalls in the park.
