Ultimate Guide to Disney California Adventure’s Lunar New Year Celebration 2026

Disney California Adventure will celebrate the Year of the Horse during its annual Lunar New Year celebration, which began today, January 23, 2026, and continues daily through February 22, 2026. 

Here’s your ultimate guide to all this year’s Lunar New Year fun, including the full list of 2026 food offerings.

Meilin and Ming Lee from “Turning Red” made their Disneyland debut during the 2024 Lunar New Year celebration, but for the 2026 festival, Red Panda Mei will be meeting guests on Pixar Pier.

Disney California Adventure’s Lunar New Year Celebration 2026 – The Year of the Horse

Lunar New Year is celebrated across several Asian cultures, including Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and more. Disney characters occasionally join the celebration during years they represent, including the Three Little Pigs for The Year of the Pig in 2019 and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit for the Year of the Rabbit in 2023.

With 2026 being the Year of the horse, Horace Horsecollar will be joining the celebration, along with Mickey and Minnie in the beautiful Korean-inspired costumes they debuted last year. 

One of the most popular spots each year are displays that tell guests which animal represents their birth year.

Lunar New Year 2026 Food

Unlike in previous years, where festival items were also found at resort hotels and Downtown Disney, the dishes and novelties celebrating Lunar New Year 2026 seem to be available exclusively at Disney California Adventure (the only exception is the themed novelty tumbler, which will be sold at the Disneyland Hotel).

The food is scattered across six food booths located throughout Disney California Adventure, along with dishes at various dining locations around the park as well.

One of the things that we love about DCA’s Lunar New Year Celebration is its emphasis on entertainment. Throughout the duration of the festival, you can look forward to Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession, live music at Paradise Garden, and an array of characters in colorful Lunar New Year outfits.

Mulan’s Lunar New Year Processional

Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession is an absolute must-watch for any DCA visitor. As Mulan and Mushu make their way along the parade route, there is an array of dancers, martial artists, and more that make this an amazing cultural display.

The procession makes its way through the entirety of the parade route from Guardians of the Galaxy to Paradise Park.

The dragon dancers are always popular.

And, of course, it would not be “Mulan’s Lunar New Year Processional” without Mulan herself! 

Lunar New Year Live Performances

At the bandstand in Paradise Garden and at Sonoma Terrace, guests can enjoy live music throughout the day.

Lucky Wishing Wall

While in Paradise Gardens, be sure to stop by the Lucky Wishing Wall and add a personal message to the wall of hanging wishes. It’s a beautifully shared sentiment as you add your wish for the year and see what other people are looking forward to. As the festival goes on, the wall becomes more and more decorated as the wishes get added daily.

Lunar New Year Characters

In addition to Red Panda Mei from “Turning Red” (who will meet guests on Pixar Pier),  guests can meet Mulan and Mushu, along with Mickey and Minnie in Korean-inspired outfits, Goofy and Clarabelle wearing Vietnamese-inspired aó dài outfits, and Donald and Daisy in Chinese-inspired hanfu styles. Horace Horsecollar will also celebrate the Year of the Horse in a Chinese-inspired costume.

Hurry Home World of Color Pre-Show

A special World of Color pre-show follows Little Lantern on a journey to return home for the annual celebration of good luck and fortune with appearances by Mulan and Mushu.

The music for this 6-minute short is written by Academy Award-winning composer Tan Dun. This is the perfect treat way to end a day celebrating Lunar New Year at DCA.

Lunar New Year 2026 Merchandise 

The Lunar New Year 2026 merchandise is available for purchase at Elias & Co, the Festival Gifts booth, and Acorns Gifts & Goods (the lobby shop inside Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa). 

Before we get to the more traditional fare, like the Ear Headband and trading pin, I wanted to highlight this new crossbody bag ($75) created for the celebration by Lougefly.

Spirit Jersey chipped in as well with a themed Spirit Jersey for adults ($84.99).

Pandora also teamed up with Disney for a special Lunar New Year charm.

Other shirts include a Mickey and Minnie-themed style ($36.99) and one inspired by lucky foods ($36.99).

There is also a sports jersey featuring Horace Horsecollar ($74.99).

The bow on this year’s ear headband ($36.99) is removable.

This trading pin features dangling lanterns.
