EPCOT’s charming International Festival of the Arts is running through February 20th. The art-themed festival is a fun and food-filled occasion. This is my son Johnny’s favorite EPCOT festival of the year. While it may not seem like it, this is one of the most family-friendly festivals at EPCOT. Let’s take a look at why the Festival of the Arts is Johnny’s favorite and what he is looking forward to this year.

Expression Section: A Paint by Numbers Mural
Not creative? That’s not a problem! This may just be the activity for you. The Expression Section: A Paint by Numbers Mural is a large mural that everyone throughout the day gets to paint. The murals usually take more than a day to complete, but Johnny loves to paint his squares on the way in and then check the progress on the way out. And when you are done you get a smaller version of the mural to take home with you!

Figment’s Brush with the Masters
Are you ready for a scavenger hunt? Figment’s Brush with the Masters sends you around the World Showcase looking masterpieces which Figment has cleverly added himself into. Johnny has fun doing the scavenger hunts for each festival, and this one is no different. And the prizes tend to be interactive, a mini plaster character to paint and paper art cutouts have been our favorite so far. Can’t wait to see what this year brings!

Take a look at last year’s scavenger hunt in the article below for a preview of some of the Figments we found:

Kids Chalk Art
It’s time to pull out the sidewalk chalk and start practicing because there is some amazing artwork in the Kids Chalk Art area from kids of all ages. The section is washed away every night, allowing for new creativity and imagination the next day.

Chalk Art Galleries
Take the walkway between what will be World Celebration and the World Showcase and you will see some amazing chalk art, including in 3D! If you come early in the day, you may even see the artists chalking their creations. The chalk art changes throughout the festival, so it’s fun for Johnny to check them out each time we come.

It’s truly amazing looking at the 3D Chalk Art from both directions, it always amazes Johnny the difference in views.

Artful Photo Ops
Who doesn’t want to be a part of your favorite masterpiece? With Artful Photo Ops, you can put yourself in the painting! It’s the perfect opportunity for Johnny to ham it up a little.

The best part of putting yourself in the pictures is that they show you what the actual picture looks like so you can copy it.

Disney on Broadway
While this may not be a big hit for some kids, Johnny loves seeing the shows during the festivals. And Disney on Broadway is no exception. Hearing some of his favorite Disney songs live is a real treat. Plus, it’s a great way to sit for a spell before continuing around the park.

Chalk Full of Characters
Another one of Johnny’s favorite activities is finding the chalk characters throughout the World Showcase. These Characters really blend into their environment!

These are just a few of the fun-filled activities at EPCOT’s International Festival of the Arts. For the full details— and food!— that is offered at what is loving long as FARTS (Festival of the Arts), be sure to look at the article below:

As you can tell, there is so much to do during this festival, and it’s not possible to do it all in one day. If you are looking for Johnny, there’s a good chance we will be at the International Festival of the Arts whenever we have a chance now through February 20, 2023.
