Once upon a time, a baker at Main Street Bakery was closing the shop, but he closed the door a bit too hard. A bottle of magic pixie dust toppled down from the top shelf and sprinkled magic all over his tasty creations, springing them to life. Just like that, the Munchlings were born! The Disney Munchlings made their debut in September of this year, and they’ve been an adorable smash hit. And now, let’s take a look at a newly-released, extra-special Donald Duck Munchling!
A New Donald Duck Munchling Makes His Entrance!
For the first time, the Disney Munchlings team has partnered with Food and Beverage at Walt Disney World to come up with their latest concoction. Revealed only just today is the Donald Duck Lemon and Blueberry Cupcake, a stubbornly sweet plush designed in tandem with Stefan Riemer, the Pastry Culinary Director for Walt Disney World Resorts and recipient of the Walt Disney Legacy Award. This Donald Duck Munchling is a Limited Edition plush and will only be available in Disney Springs while supplies last! You can find him at the World of Disney.
A Sweet Treat at Amorette’s Patisserie
Chef Stefan Riemer, who has been with the Disney family since 1999, created a delicious Munchling lookalike that you can find only at Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs (right across from the World of Disney).
Chef Stefan grew up in Germany and states that, in his country, Donald Duck was more popular than Mickey Mouse! When he was growing up, he read Donald Duck comic books and was fascinated by Donald because “he was not perfect… he has a temper, he was fiercely charismatic, he had a cool attitude but also a beautiful personality.” Chef Stefan wanted to use the colors of Donald Duck as inspiration for the flavors of the pastry. He says that Donald’s yellow, blue, and off-white color scheme inspired him to use flavors of lemon, blueberry, and Chantilly cream. Chef Stefan felt that the dessert needed more of Donald’s personality, and he added a jalapeno drizzle to the top of his hat. It’s not an overwhelmingly spicy flavor, but it adds enough kick to let you know that you’re dealing with Donald!
This Walt Disney World-exclusive Donald Duck pastry is available for a limited time (through November 8), and they only create 100 each day to serve guests. Make sure you visit Disney Springs soon so that you don’t miss out on this delightful creation or its Munchling companion!
