If you think toys are getting bigger and bigger lately, you’d be right! But nobody seems to be taking it as far as Super7 is. Their line of Supersize vinyl figures will dominate any shelf or room and are sure to impress anyone who comes across them. With characters from Disney, Peanuts, and more available, these premium vinyl figures will spark conversations for generations to come.

Today, we will look at two more recent Disney releases from Super7: Ebenezer Scrooge from Mickey’s Christmas Carol and the Queen of Hearts from the classic Alice in Wonderland. These two characters couldn’t be more different from each other, but that also makes it fun. Here are our thoughts on Super7’s new figures.

Where to Buy

The Queen of Hearts and Ebenezer Scrooge Supersize Figures are available from Super7 and cost $295 each.

Packaging

The boxes that Super7 has crafted for these figures are beautiful to say the least, and uniform across all characters. If you’ve purchased the previous figures, such as Brave Little Tailor Mickey or Ben Ali Gator, they’re all the same hues of purple with gold trim. A silhouette of the character hints at what’s inside, with the film’s logo splashed across the front and back.  On the side of the box, you’ll find the character’s name.

Now, if the figures inside are big (16″ tall), then you’re going to be needing a bigger box. Figures are safely contained within plastic trays that consume the entire figure… there’s enough space around that in case of outside damage.

But wait, there’s more! When ordering direct from Super7, the item will arrive in a large cardboard shipper box. Within that are styrofoam corners holding up a white box. Inside that white box is, at last, the purple foil box protected within a layer of bubble wrap. With all those layers, your collectible should be pretty close to pristine when it reaches your home.

Queen of Hearts

Let’s take a closer look at the beloved classic Disney Villain, the Queen of Hearts. She stands tall at a commanding 20″ and comes with her green flamingo croquet stick, which is capable of standing freely by itself when not in her right hand.  The grip of her hand on this flamingo isn’t my favorite as it is a tad loose, but it is perhaps intended to be held up high rather than out in front.  With her smaller feet, it’s possible she may topple forward with a bump if the croquet stick is held in front.

The sculpt of the Queen of Hearts depicts her in a more pleasant mood, which now makes me wish there was a far angrier version for display as well! But the pleasant smile on the Queen of Hearts looks fantastic, and she appears as though she curtsied right out of her kingdom and into your home. Her right hand is in a gripping pose, while her left hand is more relaxed. The flamingo has a wonderfully neutral yet concerned expression. One thing to watch out for is to avoid transporting the Queen while holding the flamingo. He sometimes wants to slip out of that grip, and you can risk damaging or breaking the flamingo in the process.

The queen’s wardrobe combines fabric and stiffer materials to keep that stout look the queen is famous for. You might want to go ahead and straighten the dress out from the inside in case it got crinkled up during transit. And yes, you bet we took a peek underneath to reveal this “fat, pompous, bad-tempered old tyrant’s” heart-covered undergarments.

The dress is a lot of what makes this piece impressive, with movie-accurate and saturated reds, yellows, and blacks, making the Queen’s wardrobe really pop.  The paint application on the Queen is also nothing to sneeze at, with clean lines and film-accurate detail.

The Queen of Hearts is poseable but only slightly.  You can change the direction of her head and hold up her arms. The legs might have joints, but I was reluctant to attempt to loosen them, as she is a tad precarious as it is. The Queen of Hearts may seem an odd choice to supersize, but you can’t argue that she is an under-utilized character as far as merchandise goes.

Ebenezer Scrooge

Speaking of under-utilized, Ebenezer Scrooge (or all things Scrooge McDuck) is a character that really gets me excited. Here, Ebenezer is depicted in his pajamas and nightcap, holding a candle and poking around with a stern expression. If you recall, at this point in the short film, Ebenezer has already encountered his friend Marley’s ghost and has gone to bed for the night but gets up to explore disturbances. Many may forget that Scrooge spends most of the film IN his Pajamas!

Scrooge stands 16″ tall and comes with a candle accessory. His fabric outfit consists of his nightshirt and cap. The spectacles are not removable. The candle fits tightly in his right hand and is sculpted to hold it, while his left hand shows an open palm. If held up, he looks as if he’s demanding money.

The nightcap is removable and well, as is his shirt, but you will risk damage attempting the latter. Hopefully, this means there will be more Scrooge McDuck figures in various outfits in the future.

The articulation count for Scrooge is a bit higher than Queen of Hearts, but mainly because his outfit can mask many of the joints. He has cut joints at the neck, shoulders, wrists, waist, legs, and ankles. But really, these figures don’t need a lot of movement as their display pieces and not meant for play.

Final Thoughts

These vinyl figures are MIGHTY impressive. I thought they looked great in pictures, but seeing them in person makes a difference. But big as they are, they are not in scale with each other. They are each their own display pieces for their own space and are not intended to be side by side. Still, I wonder how many characters will eventually be released and how they might look in a row. Somehow, having characters in proper scale with one another would be more fun for me, personally. But on the subject of scale, I hope we do see a matching King of Hearts released to go along with the Queen of Hearts, and maybe that wouldn’t have to cost $295. As for her croquet accessory, I think her heart-shaped fan might have been more suitable.

Ebenezer Scrooge is pretty perfect as-is and my favorite of the two. I would have also been okay with a less stern expression, though, as he spends more time in this outfit in fear and in awe… but Super7 may have another standard wardrobe designed for another release (one can only hope!).

In closing, the price point might scare many fans away, but hopefully, you’ll find one or two characters you want to display in your home. I’ve found that these types of pieces evoke an emotional reaction that smaller-scale collectibles don’t quite achieve. Even my mother, who is not Disney-obsessed like me, took to these characters immediately, transporting her to another time and place. She didn’t want to own one of these prior, but she quickly changed her mind after seeing them. In a way, they remind me a bit of the old Disney Store window displays, and I recall even then that I wish I had a place that reminded me of those characters I grew up with. And well, thanks to these Super7 vinyl figures, you pretty much can.
