Walt Disney World has required park reservations along with your park tickets since July 2020. It’s a process that hasn’t always been easy to navigate. However, a change in WDW’s park reservations system has streamlined some things and added some much-needed flexibility.

Walt Disney World’s New Reservation System

Effective immediately, easier park reservations are finally available. If you are booking reservations for a mix of ticket and pass types, you can now do that all at once (existing block-out dates still apply to each ticket type), even for large parties.

When booking reservations, you can include up to 30 people. Previously each ticket type had to be booked separately. It’s a big timesaver compared to the old system.

Guests will still be able to make Park Reservations at the time of ticket purchase, be it in a vacation package or stand-alone tickets. Walt Disney World Resort packages and park tickets are currently available with a check-in or first use date as late as December 31, 2023.

Previously, if you wanted to make a change to a Theme Park reservation, you had to cancel your reservation. Now you can modify the date and Theme Park on the reservation without canceling. This is good news, as you are no longer risking not being able to enter any park that day by canceling.

If you have multiple types of tickets for one guest, you can now select which ticket you would like to utilize for the reservation. Additionally, you now have the ability to send the email confirmation to any email address, not just the My Disney Experience account you are signed into.

Selecting your park day and which park you want to visit is not changing. That includes choosing your starting park. At Disneyland, you are able to start at either park after the park hopping time at 1 pm; Walt Disney World will continue to require starting your WDW day at the park of your choosing before allowing park hopping.

Something to note with the updates to the reservation system is that Annual Passholder Park Reservation limits have not changed. Pixie Dust passes may have up to 3 reservations, Pirate Pass up to 4, Sorcerer and Incredi-Pass up to 5 in place at one time.
