Spooky NOPE Set Added to Universal Studios Hollywood Tram Tour!

Jordan Peele’s new comedy thriller, Nope, opens in theaters today (July 22nd, 2022). It’s also opening as a new attraction on the world-famous Studio Tour today at Universal Studios Hollywood as well, the first time the theme park has opened an attraction the same day as a film release.

In the film, residents of a desolate desert town make a chilling supernatural discovery. Some of the film is shot in and around the fictional theme park “Jupiter’s Claim.” That expansive set was disassembled and transported to Universal Studios Hollywood as a new feature near the end of the Tram Tour. 

You can roll through the set on a regular tour beginning today, and guests of the VIP tours will actually be able to walk the set as part of their experience. We visited Jupiter’s Claim earlier this week and were surprised to find a fully decorated little town. The candy shop is fully stocked, park maps at the fake ticket booths, and evidence of a catastrophic event will all be discovered by guests to the set.

While most folks may flock to Universal for Harry Potter or Jurassic World, we have always loved the park for the Studio Tour celebrating what Universal really is… a working movie studio.

Harry Potter’s Wizarding World may get all the attention, but don’t miss the real reason for the park, its Studio Tour! The whole reason there’s a theme park here at all is because it developed around the very popular tram tours through the sets and backlots at the studio. The Studio Tour is unique in that rather than you going to individual attractions, they come to you. You ride through sets, experiences, and mini-stories. Along the way you’ll encounter Jaws, get swept away on a Fast & The Furious adventure, survive King Kong, witness a flood, an earthquake, see the Psycho house (and sometimes Norman Bates), as well as dozens of famous sets and movie locations. 

One more neat little thing about the Studio Tour is the trams are being replaced with electric motors. Over time, the whole fleet of trams will be electric, an industry first. Our ride on one of the new electric trams was quiet and without the smell of engine fumes. Nice!

The new Nope set is a neat new way for guests to experience a little slice of movie magic.

Nope opens in theaters today as well as the new theme park experience at Universal Studios Hollywood! 

And will the Jupiter’s Claim set be part of Halloween Horror Nights this year? Universal won’t confirm, but Universal Creative VP Jon Corfino says “Anything is possible.” We definitely expect to see a little extra magic on these sets this fall. Horror Nights construction is well underway.
