Time to wake up and smell the garlic! Knott’s Berry Farm has been building a new restaurant at a breakneck pace all summer. It’s finally time to take a taste. Plus, a land is walled off. Let’s explore as Knott’s completes one project and starts the next…
An Italian Kitchen
The Prop Shop Pizzeria is a completely new restaurant that replaces Hollywood Hits next to the Walter Knott Theater. While it still serves pizza like Hollywood Hits, it now fits the surrounding Memory Lane area much better and expands the menu. The industrial design aesthetic may feel a little modern, but it’s close enough and will feel comfortable for most guests.
Out front, a convenient beverage stand serves refreshments (sodas, wine, beer, and frozen cocktails)… all-season drink plans as well.
Speaking of, there’s a convenient entrance that skips the food line if you’re just looking to refill your souvenir bottle, much like Boardwalk BBQ.

Prop Shop serves three main entrees: pizza, pasta, and salad.
All the salads are on the meal plan. Side salads come in a spring mix or caesar.

The caesar salad was popular when I swung by. But all the salads looked quite good.

The pasta bowl is a custom-made-to-order item (and is also included in the meal plan). Choose a pasta, sauce, and topping for your own unique dish.
Finally, right in the name, this is a pizzeria. It seems like most of the same kind of pizza that’s served elsewhere in the park is available here, but I do wonder if Prop Shop’s pizza might be better just because of the brick oven. Nonetheless, there are quite a few options.
The meal plan offers a slice and a side salad, which doesn’t seem too bad of a deal.

Prop Shop also serves a few goodies to go with your entree; they all look quite delicious.

Boysenberry BBQ chicken pizza, a side caesar salad, and a Boysenberry Coke Zero (I mix Coke with Boysenberry Punch)— all on the meal plan. Moreover, the pizza and salad were actually pretty good. I don’t usually expect theme park pizza to be terribly flavorful, so for a theme park pizza joint, this was impressive. To be fair, slathering anything in Boysenberry BBQ sauce is bound to make it taste good.
Knott’s also expanded the outdoor seating, creating a comfortable space to enjoy your meal. It’s not indoors, but most of it is enclosed; everything is covered.
Also, a small something that the team has noticed around Knott’s recently. They’ve replaced a lot of their trash cans around the park with these nifty very familiar designs, including the double bins for trash and food waste (separating food waste for composting is a new California law if you didn’t know). They look nice and are well-themed to the areas.
With the opening of Prop Shop, there’s now the addition of these stylish pizza box trash cans. It’s not a huge deal, but it’s a great example of how Knott’s has been paying attention to (and investing in) the details lately.
Overall, Prop Shop Pizzeria is quite a positive addition to the area. Not only is it a great expansion and retheme to Memory Lane, but it’s also a massive improvement over what was here.
With the addition of the pizzeria, a new set of restrooms have opened across the walkway from the restaurant.

One of the noticeable differences with the set of restrooms is the communal sinks at the entrance.

Additionally, a new drinking fountain has been installed, with this drinking fountain being the first in the park to have a flask refiller.

With the addition of the excellent Bear-y Tales in the area last year, plus the rebranding of the Walter Knott Theater, Memory Lane now feels more cohesive. The restaurant isn’t the most exciting addition, but a welcome and necessary one. We only hope that Knott’s continues this kind of investment into their park…and it seems they may have already started.
Vamos A La Fiesta!
Hot off the heels of one major construction project, Knott’s has already begun another. The entire inner part of Fiesta Village is walled off.
Signs around the construction walls say “¡Vamos a la fiesta!” or “let’s go to the party” in Summer 2023. With a whole year until the opening of whatever that party will be, we’re very interested in what the plans are.
Since La Papa Loca was in the building that’s walled off, the menu items were moved to Wilderness Broiler. This also means that the Bob Baker Marionette show is MIA.
We can only assume that the previously started, year-long refurbishment of Montezooma’s Revenge is a part of this Fiesta Village remodel. Speaking with some Knott’s employees, we were told to expect even more major coaster refurbishments, including Jaguar and Silver Bullet.
We love seeing so much being kept up at Knott’s. Yet, we do wonder what Knott’s will do in the meantime to make up for so much lost capacity?

Knott’s has really weathered the storm of the past two years the best it possibly could, and the Memory Lane expansion, remodel of Fiesta Village, and constant festivals are great illustrations of this.
