The Main Street Electrical Parade continues to sparkle through the summer season. All the quintessential details and a few new ones from this park favorite still have our hearts a flutter, and with that in mind, we wanted to recap our favorite moments from the 50th-anniversary return of this glittering classic.
Turtles and snails and bees, oh my!
Even the fussiest of tots can’t help but smile when the turtles take a spin down main street! And of course, it’s a literal spin. Though it leaves us grown ups wondering just how many motion sickness patches it takes to drive one of those things!
Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust
Is there a more classic moment from this carnival of electric wonderment than the moment Tink takes to Main Street? We think not. Aside from being one of the most magical things to float our way (pun intended), Tinkerbell’s float continues its ethereal aesthetic 50 years later. Flawless individual character lighting for Tink and her band of fairies bring this immersive float full circle.
Never Grow Up
Continuing the love for Neverland, Peter Pan and Hook never fail to disappoint. While we have seen this iconic duo disappear from Fantasmic in recent years, it’s an absolute joy to revisit them with the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade.
Classic Character Moments
We don’t know about you, but we can’t help but smile the second the Mouse himself takes center stage. And the same is true for each and every iconic animation character. The eyes and hearts of the longest and youngest of Disney fans alike light up at the sight of favorites like Minnie, Mickey and Goofy as they embark on their electric journey.
Off to work we go!
Nothing brings instant joy quite like Dopey rounding the hub at the top of a shimmering mine cart. Have a sweet tooth? Then you’ll definitely want to get your hands on the equally bright mine cart brownie from Jolly Holiday Bakery.
Curiouser and curiouser!
The moment you hear her soft, sweet voice drifting from atop a green mushroom, you know real magic is about to begin. Call us mad, but this character encounter always feels the most joyful and purely delightful.
Elliott!
There’s a reason the Elliott popcorn container has generated the most buzz (and long lines) since the Figment bucket made its debut at EPCOT. Elliott is a sight to behold from every direction. Glittering wings, steaming dragon breath, and of course, the lantern swaying to and fro as he makes his way through the park.
All together for the big finish!
The 50th anniversary sees a major update in the form of a stunning finale float embodying togetherness. Crafted to honor the segment it replaces, “To Celebrate America”, this 118-foot stunner brings us a fresh wave of diversity, inclusivity and a lovely splash of Small World style. As the float passes by, let your eyes wander, as the projectors down Main Street make this a truly immersive finale.
Seeing this classic parade enter its 50th year electrifies our nostalgia to an eleven. Whether you’re seeing this parade for the first time or if you’ve stared wide-eyed into the glistening wonder for five decades, this nighttime spectacular is not to be missed.
