The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa have recently been expanded with 200 all-new resort studios. The rooms officially opened on June 20th, and we were able to tour one recently. The DVC Resort Studios are a first of their kind – let’s check them out!

The Grand’s new DVC rooms are located in the Big Pine Key building of the hotel, located just across from the resort’s main building.

Once inside the Big Pine Key building, the lobby features the color palette and details from Mary Poppins and Mary Poppin’s Returns (the same as the recently refurbished Citricos restaurant at the resort). This theme carries throughout the new Resort Studio rooms. It’s not an in-your-face kind of theming, but instead a more adult approach towards Disney sensibilities.

You can think of the Resort Studio as the room category just below a DVC Deluxe Studio. These are a little bit larger than a standard guest room and include two queen beds, a convertible daybed, a beverage station with a beverage cooler, a double-sink vanity area, and a bathtub shower.

The room’s layout is very spacious and is equipped with lots of storage space. (One thing we do think should be added are microwaves; we were told guests are able to request a microwave upon arrival and are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.)

The mostly-subtle touches of Mary Poppins are done really well. Rich jewel and gold tones, airy pastels, and whimsical touches of the practically perfect story can be found all around the room.

Our favorite detail is the one little penguin among the songbirds on the light fixture:

The Grand Floridian’s 200 new Resort Studio rooms are now open and ready for booking.

The Victorian charm, easy access to the WDW parks via monorail, bus, and water taxi services, and a chance to catch a glimpse of Magic Kingdom fireworks across Seven Seas Lagoon make this a special place to stay. Plus, when staying in the Big Pine Key building, you’re located close to the resort’s main lobby – offering easy walking access to dining venues and transportation stations.

These new rooms look beautiful, and we can’t wait to see further updates that are in store for the resort. What do you think of the Mary Poppins Returns theme moving into the Grand Floridian?
