Disney fans are going to need to make some room at the top of their bucket list because Adventures by Disney (ABD) has announced a 24-day Disney Parks Around The World – A Private Jet Adventure that visits all twelve Disney theme parks in 2023. Yes, you read that right – every single Disney Park on Earth!
But that’s not all. You’ll also travel in a VIP-configured private Boeing 757 jet (with a dedicated flight crew, physician, and chef) and stay in luxury accommodations, including premium hotels at the theme parks and the rare opportunity to stay at Summit Skywalker Ranch in Northern California.
The trip, from July 9 – Aug.1, 2023, also provides pre-opening access and VIP tours in the parks, private tours at The Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, The Walt Disney Family Museum and Lucasfilm campus in San Francisco, and visits to real-life Soarin’ Around the World stars, the Taj Mahal, the Pyramids of Giza, and the Eiffel Tower.
Here are just some of the highlights of the Anaheim to Orlando itinerary:
Day 1 – Welcome dinner at the Lincoln Theater in Disneyland, followed by reserved fireworks viewing (stay at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa).
Day 2 – The Walt Disney Studios Tour (including shopping for studio-exclusive merchandise and lunch in the studio commissary) followed by a dessert viewing party of World of Color in California Adventure.
Day 3 – Pre-opening access to Disneyland Park followed by VIP tours of both Disneyland and California Adventure.
Day 4 – Fly to San Francisco, Calif., for private tours of the Walt Disney Family Museum and the Lucasfilm Campus (stay at Summit Skywalker Ranch).
Day 5 – Full day of activities at Summit Skywalker Ranch, including a special guest presentation, Disney Family of Wines wine tasting, and a Star Wars & Disney trivia night.
Day 6 – Fly to Anchorage, Alaska, and then onto Tokyo, Japan
Day 7 – Explore Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo DisneySea (stay at Tokyo Disneyland Hotel).
Day 8 – Pre-park hours Tokyo DisneySea experience with Walt Disney Imagineering followed by time in the parks (with expedited access) and reserved seating for the Tokyo Disneyland daytime parade and Believe! Sea of Dreams.
Day 9 – Option to return to the theme parks or explore Japan on full- or half-day tours where you can participate in a Disney character Bento box-making class, a taiko drumming lesson, or experience a bonsai activity and tea ceremony.
Day 10 – Fly to Shanghai, where you can explore Shanghai Disneyland (with expedited access) or participate in a cooking class, a Chinese calligraphy and painting class, or see an acrobat show (stay at Shanghai Disneyland Hotel).
Day 11 – Shanghai Disneyland Premier Tour with expedited access to performances and attractions followed by reserved viewing for Illuminate! A Nighttime Celebration.
Day 12 – Fly to Hong Kong and visit Hong Kong Disneyland (with expedited access) or participate in an Introduction to Hong Kong tour or private cooking lesson. In the evening, enjoy a Junk boat cruise and private dinner (stay at Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel).
Day 13 – Spend the morning exploring Hong Kong Disneyland, followed by an afternoon “Momentous” guided park tour, private dinner at Explorer’s Club restaurant, and reserved viewing for the Momentous nighttime spectacular.
Day 14 – Fly to Agra, India, where you can tour the Agra Fort (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) or take a relaxing Taj nature walk (stay at The Five-Star Oberoi Amarvilas).
Day 15 – Sunrise Taj Mahal photo op followed by a Taj Mahal tour and activities like visiting the Tomb of Itmad Ud Daulah (known as “Baby Taj”) or shopping in Agra.
Day 16 – Fly to Cairo, Egypt, where you can explore one of the archeological sites of the Great Pyramid of Giza and see the Great Sphinx (stay at the Five-Star Marriott Mena House).
Day 17 – Fly to Paris, France, and enjoy dinner at Walt’s – An American Restaurant in Disneyland Paris, followed by VIP viewing of Disney Illuminations nighttime spectacular (stay at Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel).
Day 18 – Pre-opening Walt Disney Imagineering Experience followed by VIP tours of Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park and VIP viewing of a Disneyland Paris daytime show and dinner under the “chandelier of Asgard” the at Manhattan restaurant.
Day 19 – Return to the parks (with special access) or choose half-or full-day tours, including a Paris city tour, a private tour of Versailles, a guided tour of the Louvre, or bake French sweets in a hands-on culinary experience.
Day 20 – Fly to Orlando, Fla. (with a stop in Halifax, Nova Scotia). Visit the Walt Disney World theme parks (with special attraction access), followed by a private viewing of the Magic Kingdom’s nighttime spectacular (stay at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa).
Day 21 – A full day in Magic Kingdom Park, including breakfast in the Beast’s enchanted castle, an exclusive “behind the beams” look at the monorail (including a private ride to the backstage shop), a VIP tour, and VIP viewing for the Festival of Fantasy Parade and Nighttime Spectacular.
Day 22 – Spend the morning at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park, including breakfast with Dr. Mark Penning (Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products VP of Animals, Science and Environment), Kilimanjaro Safaris with an animal program expert, and Celebration of Festival of the Lion King (with a pre-show backstage visit). In the afternoon, visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park with Lightning Lane attraction passes.
Day 23 – Breakfast at Golden Oak, a visit Tri-Circle D Ranch, and a rare opportunity to visit the Disney Flavor Lab (the secret test kitchen where Disney chefs develop dishes). After a private lunch at the Living SEAS Pavilion in Epcot, explore the park (with preferred access), followed by a farewell dinner in the American Adventure Rotunda, reserved viewing for Epcot’s nighttime fireworks spectacular, and a ride on Soarin’ Around the World to see some of the landmarks you just visited.
Day 24 – Head for home (and sleep off all that jetlag).
As expected, that kind of trip – and on a private jet no less – is going to set you back more than a few dollars, but fans of Adventures by Disney vacations insist the “Disney premium” is what buys the Disney level of service and access to Disney-exclusive tours and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.
In this case, the 24-day, 23-night trip that visits 31 sites and includes 68 meals costs $109,995.00 per person (both kids and adults). So that got us thinking. How much would it cost to do the same trip (or close) on our own?
We decided to find out.
How much would it cost us to book the same hotels as the ABD trip?
Disney Parks Around The World – A Private Jet Adventure departure dates are July 9 – Aug. 1, 2023. Obviously, we can’t predict what hotel prices will be next year, so for the sake of this experiment, we priced hotels for July 9 – Aug. 1, 2022. Also, we only used rates from official hotel websites, not third-party “travel hubs” like Expedia.
Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa – Three nights in a standard view room = $2,790.45
Olema House in Point Reyes, Calif. (Summit Skywalker Ranch is not available to the public, so we substituted this luxury boutique hotel 16.3 miles away) – Two nights in a creek view room = $1,036.76
Tokyo Disneyland Hotel – Three nights in a standard deluxe room = $1,317.81
Shanghai Disneyland Hotel – Two nights in a deluxe garden view room = $1,023.59
Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel – Two nights in a deluxe room = $313.88
The Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra – Two nights in a premier room = $787.13
Marriott Mena House, Cairo – One night in a deluxe balcony room = $269.53
Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel – Three nights in a superior room with a garden view = $1,497.38
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa – Four nights in an outer building garden view room = $3,170.26
Total for hotels = $12,206.79
How much would it cost us to buy tickets for all twelve Disney theme parks?
We assumed all tickets on the ABD trip are park hoppers at resorts with more than one park. In addition, because the ABD trip’s minimum age is 12 (recommended 14+), we used regular adult prices based on 2022 dates, and applied no special ticket offers or opted for hotel packages that include park tickets. We did, however, include Disney Genie+ (or equivalent services in international parks when available) since ABD provides expedited access in every park.
Last but certainly not least, Disneyland Magic Key and/or Walt Disney World Annual Pass holders would obviously save money for those parks, so go ahead and subtract dollars as needed.
- Disneyland Resort – Three-day park hopper with Genie+ = $450.00
- Tokyo Disney Resort – Three-day hopper is not available, so we substituted three single-day one-park tickets = $186.04
- Shanghai Disney – The theme park is currently closed, and no tickets are on sale, so we used January 2022 pricing for two single-day tickets = $129.06
- Hong Kong Disneyland – No two-day ticket available, so we substituted two single-day Disney Premier Access tickets (8 attractions) = $246.62
- Disneyland Paris Resort – Three-day park hopper with Premier Access = $627.01
- Walt Disney World Resort – Four-day park hopper with Genie+ = $664.16
Total for them park tickets = $2,302.89 per person
How much would it cost us to fly First Class?
For airfare, we compared airlines and selected the middle-priced airfare for each flight. We also priced non-stop flights whenever possible since the ABD jet is flying non-stop (except for a stop in Anchorage between San Francisco and Tokyo and a stop in Nova Scotia between Paris and Orlando), and we priced first class or the highest fare level available.
- Los Angeles (LAX) to San Francisco (SFO) – Delta first class/nonstop = $329.00
- San Francisco (SFO) to Tokyo (NRT) – United first class/nonstop = $5,457.00
- Tokyo (NRT) to Shanghai (SHA) – Japan Airlines business class/nonstop = $2,306.05
- Shanghai (PVG) to Hong Kong (HKG) – Cathay Pacific first class/nonstop = $4,845.00
- Hong Kong (HKG) to Delhi (DEL) – There were no flights to/from Agra, so we substituted Delhi – Cathay Pacific business class/nonstop = $1,641. 16
- Delhi (DEL) to Cairo (CAI) – Emirates Airlines first class/one stop = $2,776.84
- Cairo (CAI) to Paris (CDG) – Air France le premiere class/nonstop = $1,423.00
- Paris (CDG) to Orlando (MCO) – United first class/one stop = $6,011.00
Total for air travel = $24,789.05
Now let’s take a math break:
So far, we’re at $12,206.79 for hotel, $2,302.89 for theme park tickets, and $24,789.05 for airfare, which is “only” $39,298.73 per person.
So, what else would we get for the additional $70,696.27?
Most importantly (in my opinion), we’d get pre-opening experiences in Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea, and Disneyland Paris. We’d also get VIP tours – also known as the “plaid”-led tours that always get our attention – in Disneyland and California Adventure in Anaheim, Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios in Paris, and Magic Kingdom in Orlando.
Plus, there are those Walt Disney Imagineering experiences in Tokyo DisneySea and Disneyland Paris, the Shanghai Disneyland Premier Tour, the “Momentous” guided park tour of Hong Kong Disneyland, the “behind the beams” monorail tour at Walt Disney World, and several other exclusive behind-the-scenes and private experiences that are definitely not available to regular park guests.
And then we’d get the private guided tours of The Walt Disney Studios, The Walt Disney Family Museum, Lucasfilm, and let’s not forget a stay at Skywalker Ranch, which is super exclusive (not to mention incredibly cool). But wait! There are also all those private tours and hands-on classes in Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Agra, Cairo, and Paris. Still not worth another $70,696.27, you say?
What about the 68 meals? Many of those are private meals in Disney parks and hotels – and we know how costly those can be. There’s also transportation to and from all those airports and to and from all those tours in sedans, deluxe minibuses, and deluxe motor coaches. All gratuities for meals, activities, and tips for porters, housekeepers, drivers, activity providers, and local experts are also included.
And, last but certainly not least, we’d be accompanied by expert ABD Adventure Guides (plus local guides) who will help us make the most of our time (no chance of getting lost), an Adventure Host – who just happens to be Walt Disney Archives Director Becky Cline – and did I mention the chef? I don’t know about you, but no bad airport/airline food is worth a lot in my book.
So, yes, $109,995.00 per person is expensive. And yes, we could probably plan a similar trip for less than $109,995.00 per person. But I think we can agree that we wouldn’t do it on our own if we could afford to do it with Adventures by Disney.
And with that, I will put down my calculator.
