8/22/25 Updated with our own photos from the first day of Halloween Time!

Mickey and Friends Halloween Costumes
This year, Mickey and Minnie’s Halloween costumes are in keeping with Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary Celebration. Their vibrantly colored outfits feature Disney’s classic orange, purple, and green color scheme, accented by swirl patterns.

Can you spot the similarities? The cut of Mickey’s jacket and Minnie’s dress closely resembles their 70th anniversary attire, and the placement of patterns and designs is also very similar.

Here’s a look at the glow-in-the-dark outfits the rest of the crew will be wearing, including Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Clarabelle, Chip ‘n Dale, and Pluto:

Oogie Boogie Bash Expands Calendar
With Oogie Boogie Bash’s track record for selling out, we’re happy to report that Disneyland has upped the ante again this year for its beloved Halloween Party, adding even more days to the calendar than in 2024. The festivities take place on select nights in August, September, and October.

DCA’s OBB boasts a record 31 nights for 2025—the most ever offered. The limited capacity, after-hours event includes the “Frightfully Fun Parade”, Villains Grove at Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, treat trails lined with new and returning villains, and of course, trick-or-treating in costume. A party plus is that your ticket includes admission to DCA three hours before the starting time, and as many Disney PhotoPass digital photo downloads as your heart desires. So, make sure to get plenty of pictures at the party, to remember it by!

The event runs from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM (with early admission to DCA at 3:00 PM) and ticket prices start at $139 per guest (ages 3+). Tickets for the general public go on sale on June 26, 2025, at 9 AM PT, while Magic Key holders can purchase pre-sale tickets at 9 AM PT on the following dates (at Disneyland.com):
- Inspire Magic Key holders: June 24, 2025 (limited amount of tickets for pre-sale)
- All Magic Key holders: June 25, 2025 (limited amount of tickets for pre-sale)
Three Disneyland Magic Key posters were shared on social media to celebrate. We love the artwork! Which one is your favorite?

“Halloween Screams” Lights the Night
Disneyland’s Halloween nighttime spectacular returns again this year, to haunt us with its eerie projections and special effects, showcasing Disney Villains like Hades and Ursula.

Guests can partake in the frightful festivities in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, Main Street, U.S.A., “it’s a small world”, and the Rivers of America. Fireworks will take place on select nights.

Disney’s Happiest Haunts: The Villains’ Trail Guided Tour
Hear spooky stories specific to Disney experiences via the two-hour Happiest Haunts walking tour at Disneyland Park. It includes Lightning Lane access to a select attraction and reserved viewing for “Halloween Screams.” Happiest Haunts: The Villains’ Trail Guided Tour returns August 22, 2025.

Plaza de la Familia & Dia de los Muertos at DCA
Disney hosts some fantastic activities in the Paradise Gardens Park area during the holidays, one of which is Plaza de la Familia (Inspired by Disney’s “Coco”). Festivities to honor Día de los Muertos include live music, vibrant decorations, and unique eats and treats. There’s also a lovely memory wall photo op, “Árbol de la Vida,” which translates to Tree of Life. Enjoy the celebration from Aug. 22 through Nov. 2, 2025.

Last year, DCA’s “Coco” show was reimagined to include a new story, new costumes, and a new name: The Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia Celebrate The Musical World of Coco! Entertainment includes “musical moments” from the film like “Remember Me,” The World Es Mi Familia,” “La Llorona,” and more. The presentation is scheduled to return this fall.

Guests will, once again, be able to take pictures with Miguel (in realistic-looking puppet form) in front of the “Recuérdame” (“Remember Me”) mural. Don’t forget that, as mentioned earlier, Plaza de la Familia festivities outlast Halloween Time, running through November 2, 2024. I love this little corner of Disney California Adventure; take advantage of all it has to offer!

A new Disney Pixar Coco Collection has debuted, featuring apparel, accessories, headwear, and more.

Here’s a glimpse at the menu items for the celebration:

Don’t forget to check out our Halloween Time foodie guide for the full 2025 lineup! And… did you hear that a new Coco-themed ride is coming to Disney California Adventure? The new ride will be built mostly backstage between Pixar Pier and the Paradise Garden Grill.
‘Mickey’s Trick and Treat’ Show Costume Party
‘Mickey’s Trick and Treat’ show is available to regular guests again this year, temporarily replacing “Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!”. Kids will particularly enjoy this milder spooky season offering, where they can sing and dance along with Mickey and Minnie. Located in California Adventure’s Disney Theater, the show is hosted by a mad scientist set to a backdrop of lively projections.

Alarming Attractions Await
Cars Land Haul-O-Ween
Did you know… Cars Land’s Haul-O-Ween displays include some incredibly creative backstories! It’s a worthy destination during Halloween, offering a fully immersive environment beloved by fans. Expect to see characters in seasonal attire lurking about Radiator “Screams” amongst cleverly crafted decor.

Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters receive festive overlays for both Halloween and Christmas. During the fall season, enjoy new soundtracks and ambiance at Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree and Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween. It’s frightful, dahling!

Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark
Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark returns this year as a temporary replacement for Mission: BREAKOUT! in the spirit of Halloween. I love the look of this already impressive structure at night!

If the drops don’t scare you, we doubt the addition of monsters and beasts will do any damage, but it’s a good time, nonetheless! Go on an epic new adventure to help Rocket rescue Groot. Your mission begins at twilight!

Autumn Ambiance
Those who can never get enough of the fall season, like me, with its warm tones and festive flavors, will be enchanted by Disneyland’s autumn decorations. Nostalgic pieces will soon materialize in the form of orange lights, bunting, leaves, and, of course, the iconic giant Mickey pumpkin. So, grab your holiday Starbucks beverage and enjoy the stroll!

Disney California Adventure has its own unique vibe during Halloween, with a slightly edgier feel. As you make your way down Buena Vista Street, you’ll eventually come across the Headless Horseman, complete with a light-up jack-o-lantern head! My son and I used to get a kick out of seeing this, being that “The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad” is part of our yearly movie tradition.

Downtown Disney and the Resort Hotels will also get some Halloween Time love!

This year, Jack and Sally are taking center stage in the Halloween display in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa lobby!

On the flip side, Oogie Boogie is relishing the spotlight.

Speaking of Downtown Disney and the Resort Hotels, let’s take a look at a couple of Halloween offerings in their neck of the woods!
Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit Scavenger Hunt
Although the Disneyland Resort was indeed made for kids at heart, it’s nice to have offerings like this to keep little ones occupied. As passholders, my son and I loved participating in Disneyland scavenger hunts. So much so, we still have all of our completed maps and prizes. This year, Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit is returning to Downtown Disney, Disneyland, and California Adventure from Aug. 29 through Oct. 31. After purchasing a map (in DL, DCA, or DTD), guests can hunt for hidden character pumpkins and receive a keepsake.
