Do you think you know your Disney History? At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you can put your knowledge to the test with the help of the exhibits at Walt Disney Presents which chronicle not just the life of Walt Disney, but the past, present, and future of the Disney corporation. Johnny and I have walked through the exhibit multiple times. But this time Johnny became a Walt Disney Historian. Let’s take a quick look through the exhibit as Johnny works his way through the questions.

Walt Disney Presents: One Man’s Dream
Walt Disney Presents is an exhibit that chronicle not just the life of Walt Disney, but the past, present, and future of the Disney corporation.

Become a Disney Historian
The first step to becoming a Disney Historian is to ask the Cast Member at the entrance of Walt Disney Presents. Johnny asked the Cast Member and received a small sheet of paper with three questions.
To my surprise, Johnny didn’t make a beeline for the first question but instead stopped to look at some of the exhibit sections on Walt’s Early Years.

Moving on to the beginning of Animation, a look at an animation desk and the answer to the first question about Steamboat Wille.

Found our first answer (Steamboat Willie, 1928)! As we continue to move on through the exhibit to answer the second question, we stop to look at some antique toys.

There are also costumes from the Mouseketeers and displays about live-action films.

We came to the second question, about “it’s a small world”. There is a lot of reading to do here and it took a bit for Johnny to find the answer. But he finally did… Tower of the Four Winds.

Another side track as we looked at models from the different parks and a display on the parks around the world.

Back on track with the third and final question. Only three you say? Yep, it doesn’t take much to become a Walt Disney Historian! This question was about Abraham Lincoln, and Johnny remembered seeing a picture of him at the beginning of the exhibit.

No luck, Johnny re-read the question which was on the original Abraham Lincoln animatronic. So we headed back to where we left off. Success, Johnny found the answer… State of Illinois Pavilion at the 1964 New York World’s Fair!

Disney in the Present and Future
Now that we’ve finished our questions, let’s check out the new Disney Wish! There is always a section in the exhibit reserved for the next big upcoming attraction, ship, etc.

In front of The Walt Disney Theater are costumes from the new movies. Right now, the showcase is on West Side Story and Descendents 2. The Theater itself plays extended trailers for upcoming Disney/Pixar movie previews or Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream.

The Walt Disney Historian Guest Book
We’ve finished our questions, now what? Cast Members outside of the Walt Disney Theater will check the answers. Johnny’s favorite part of the whole experience of becoming a Walt Disney Historian was signing the guest book.

On one page you sign your name and on the facing page, you can leave a note, draw a picture, or whatever comes to mind. You are now an official Walt Disney Historian!

There is so much more to see in One Man’s Dream, even getting sidetracked we did not cover everything. And while there may only be three questions per sheet, there are eight sets of questions. I see plenty of trips back through One Man’s Dream until we finish all the questions.
