Disney and Pixar’s latest film, Lightyear, blasts into theaters on June 17. But first, let’s explore some of the goods created for the movie. We’ve got products from Disney, Mattel, Funko, LEGO, and more. It’s a Lightyear merchandise showcase of galactic proportions and it’s blasting off in 3… 2… 1… NOW!
Mattel
Laser Blade Buzz Lightyear Figure ($29.99)
In an admittedly predictable twist of irony, there are toys based on the character who is based on a toy. One of the larger-scale ones is this Laser Blade Buzz figure, measuring 12-inches tall. Squeezing and then releasing his legs prompts our space-bound hero to utter different phrases (he has more than 30 in his repertoire and they play in random order) while swinging his light-up laser blade.

Zurg 10-Inch Figure ($19.99)
And what’s a hero without a villain? This 10-inch tall figure features 13 points of articulation and comes equipped with a firing arm blaster. The figure’s size puts it to scale with the Alpha Class figures that we will look at next.

Lightyear Alpha Class Figures (sold separately) – Buzz Lightyear & Sox, Mo Morrison, Izzy Hawthorne, and Daisy Steel ($21.99)
The Lightyear Alpha Class figures are in a class all their own, with a whopping 24 points of articulation and a selection of character-specific accessories. The characters in this series are Buzz Lightyear (joined by Sox), Mo Morrison, Izzy Hawthorne, and Daisy Steel. Each one has film-accurate faces and nicely-detailed suits.

Robot Companion Sox Plush ($29.99)
Much like the Sox we see in the trailers, this plush toy has a cute and fuzzy exterior but also has electronic components. Pressing the robotic companion’s left paw will cause him to speak phrases from the movie (his mouth even opens). This Sox plush is just shy of 10-inches tall and covered in a soft fabric that is great for cuddling.

Seeker Squad Board Game ($12.99)
This cooperative board game offers two levels of difficulty, depending on what side of the board you are playing on. Two to four players work together to collect power crystals by flipping over pairs of tiles while attempting to prevent Zurg from advancing on his gameboard (known as the “Danger Tracker”). Seeker Squad is created with players aged 7 or older in mind.

Blast-Off Blitz Board Game ($19.99)
Made for two to eight players, this game splits participants into two camps, Team Lightyear and Team Zurg, competing to be the first to launch the XL-15 Spaceship into orbit (and it actually shoots off from the board!). The bulk of the gameplay involves strategically flicking the different puck-shaped game pieces to different places on the board (or at least attempting to) in a race to collect the fuel cells needed for the launch all while thwarting the other team’s efforts (giant bugs are involved with that part). Every fuel cell collected by the team earns them a shot at the rocket. If the Hyerfuel puck hits the XL-15’s launchpad, the ship will take off and the team that made the shot wins.

Funko
Funko has its own Lightyear merchandise. Its offerings take the form of their classic Pop! figures, the majority of which are available on Amazon but there is also a flocked figure of Sox sold exclusively on Funko’s online store. Here are some of the more interesting designs.
Pop! Buzz with Sox ($12.99)

Pop! Zurg ($12.99)

Pop! Izzy Hawthorne – Jr. Zap Patrol ($12.99)

Pop! Sox – Flocked, Funko.com-Exclusive ($15)

LEGO
LEGO Zurg Battle ($29.99)
This LEGO set has 261 pieces and is intended for fans 7 years and older. It includes everything you need to build an epic battle scene between Zurg and Buzz, Izzy, and Sox. Post-construction, the Zurg robot has movable arms and legs. And the Buzz and Izzy minifigures have interchangeable heads (one with the space helmet on and the other without).

LEGO XL-15 Spaceship ($49.99)
Comprised of 497 pieces, this set includes the LEGO bricks needed to build Buzz’s XL-15 spaceship as well as five minifigures with accessories and a display stand. The spaceship has an opening cockpit and a removable fuel cell (once you build it, of course). Builders aged 8 and up will enjoy this one.

LEGO Zyclops Chase ($19.99)
For the younger movie-goers, this LEGO set is made for builders aged 4 and up. It consists of 87 pieces. Once built, the Zyclops has posable arms and legs. And the shooter mechanism can fire the disc pieces.

Even More Lightyear Merchandise!
Sox Plush from shopDisney ($26.99)
Yes, we already included one Sox plush but there is always room for one more! The Sox plush from shopDisney is my most-desired piece of Lightyear merchandise. He is a good size, measuring 14-inches tall and 13.75-inches long, and has posable legs and head. But of equal importance is the detail in this plush’s design. Just look at that face! The tail! And we can’t forget those little paws. If I wasn’t already interested in the movie, this Sox plush would have made me curious enough to give it a watch.

Lightyear Early Enlistment Bundle by Super7 ($75)
Super7, a well-known name amongst designer toy collectors, has a special preorder bundle planned for their line of Lightyear ReAction figures, which will release later this year. When you place your preorder for this Early Enlistment Bundle, a “recruitment envelope” will be promptly shipped out to you. This shipment will contain a certificate, a galactic ReAction figure display stand, a Star Command recruit card, a Star Command decal sheet, and a Star Command decal. All of these goodies are exclusive to the Early Enlistment Bundle. And later, you’ll receive all four ReAction figures (shipped separately): Buzz Lightyear, Alisha Hawthorne, Mo Morrison, and Sox.

The Art of Lightyear from Chronicle Books ($42.50)
This 176-page hardcover art book offers a rare look at what went into the making of Lightyear. With production designs, storyboards, color scripts, staff commentary, and more, there are tons of exclusive behind-the-scenes details to enthrall readers.
