The Disney Pride Collection
The Walt Disney Company recently released the Disney Pride Collection, a selection of rainbow-hued merchandise themed to all four of the company’s main brands: Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel. The items from this collection are currently sold at Disney Parks as well as on shopDisney.
Aside from simply being stylish and fun, another aspect of this collection is that all profits from sales of this collection through June 30, 2022, will be donated to a number of organizations that support LGBTQIA+ youth and families. You can learn more about each one here.
The biggest variety of the collection is located at Downtown Disney’s World of Disney but the merchandise is also scattered around inside the Parks. Here’s an overview of what is currently sold at the Disneyland Resort.
Mickey & Friends Finds
The majority of the Disney selection is centered around the Big Cheese himself, Mickey Mouse. This theme has, by far, the largest amount of products.
Loungefly crafted two different Mickey-inspired bags for the collection: a Mini Backpack and a Wristlet. There are plenty of other non-Loungefly options as well.
You can add a little flair to any outfit with these accessories. The Ear Headband is especially fun. Some of the pins include characters other than Mickey Mouse.
Home goods are also available.
Pets can also share their love with Pride items created just for them.
Pixar Products
Thus far, there wasn’t much Pixar-themed Pride merchandise at the Disneyland Resort, but there may still be more on the way.
There are two themes for these items. The first is a focus on Luxo, Jr., the living desk light seen in the introduction to Pixar films.
The second theme makes use of Pixar’s cast of memorable characters and incorporates different ones into the graphics on the merchandise.
Star Wars Styles
Here’s a look at the Star Wars offerings, including an absolutely fantastic droid figure!
Perhaps to appeal to both those who side with the Rebel Alliance as well as those who swear fealty to the First Order, the central motif used in the Star Wars selection melds the emblems for both factions into one symbol.
Other designs harken back to the scrolling text in the Star Wars movie’s prologues.
There is even a specially-designed, Pride-themed Star Wars droid figure, BB-PR0UD. Both the concept and execution of this figure are absolutely darling. The same BB model droid is featured on a kid’s shirt.
Marvel Merchandise
The Marvel Pride merchandise takes the emblems representing the franchise’s many heroes and uses them to create rainbows. Like the Mickey Mouse portion of the collection, Marvel also has a Loungefly Mini Backpack to call its own.
The Marvelous Ms. Marvel
Ms. Marvel has started streaming on Disney+ and merchandise for the young hero is already at the Disneyland Resort.
Over at Disney California Adventure, you’ll find a good number of items in the Collector’s Warehouse in Avengers Campus and the Super Store featuring Avengers Campus (the store is Hollywoodland).
In terms of adult apparel, there is a jacket made by Her Universe, an amusing graphic tee, and a hat.
A Loungefly Mini Backpack as well as a (non-Loungefly) standard-sized backpack offer some options for those who like to accessorize.
However, the kids’ apparel might be even more exciting. If Disney ever made this zippered hoodie in adult sizes, I can tell you that I would be all over it. They also get a snuggly pajama set made to resemble the hero’s outfit, embellished with some of her patches and doodles.
And even more merchandise was spotted at the Disney Dress Shop in Downtown Disney.
This women’s tee incorporates a drawing of Ms. Marvel surrounded by flowers and vines.
Another highlight is the Dress Shop Dress inspired by Ms. Marvel’s hero getup. I particularly like the phrase embroidered around the logo on the dress’s chest: Good isn’t a thing you are; it is a thing you do.
… And Friends
The plush of Miss Minutes, the sentient timepiece seen in the Marvel Disney+ show, Loki, has also made its way to Disney California Adventure. Y’all can find her at the Collector’s Warehouse.
Odds & Ends
Some of the items from March’s entry in the Mickey Mouse: The Main Attraction Collection have finally arrived. The Mad Tea Party-themed Loungefly Mini Backpack and Ear Headband were present but the matching Mickey plush is still MIA. When the series was listed on shopDisney, the backpack and headband were available right away while the plush was marked as a preorder with September 10 listed as the expected ship date.
Many of the pieces from the Main Street Electrical Parade merchandise collection, most notably the Loungefly Mini Backpack, had previously been scarce but that no longer seems to be an issue. The Mini Backpack is now available in abundance and no longer restricted to only being sold behind the register. For example, they were also spotted hanging from display hooks in several places (as well as behind the register) at Disneyland’s Emporium.
Mickey Goes Virtual for FaZe Clan’s Capsule Collection
While best known as a gaming platform, FaZe Clan is also a fashion brand that has collaborated with many companies in the past, and Disney is the latest one to join the lineup. Together, the two entities are releasing a capsule collection called “Mickey On the Grid.” Designed by FaZe Clan Lead Designer James Caper Vine and Creative Director Jay ‘JVY’ Richardson in collaboration with Disney artists, the graphics used mesh everyone’s favorite talking mouse with an old-school, virtual reality-style look. The collection includes tees, sweatshirts, and hats, with special details like glow-in-the-dark embroidery and twill applique patches. There are also custom two-tone baseball caps.
The “Mickey On The Grid” Collection is currently available at The Armory, a pop-up shop and gaming experience, located just off Melrose Avenue and Fairfax Boulevard in Los Angeles, California, which is open select days until June 10. The collection will also be available for purchase online starting on May 30.
Bear Walker Industries’ Skateboards Power-Up with Marvel Collection
Known for their hand-crafted and carved wooden skateboards, Bear Walker Industries has joined forces with Marvel to create a limited-edition collection featuring four beloved superheroes. Iron Man, Hulk, Black Panther, and Wolverine are honored with carefully planned designs, with both the character art and background capturing certain aspects.
The Iron Man, Hulk, Black Panther, and Wolverine skateboards from Bear Walker Industries’ Marvel Series 1 Collection cost $225 apiece. Each design is limited to only 250 boards and every board comes with a signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
Givenchy Joins Disney for “The Wonder Gallery”
High-end clothing brand Givenchy’s capsule collection “The Wonder Gallery,” which blends Disney magic with luxury apparel, launched on May 17. The collection includes T-shirts and hoodies decorated with character silhouettes from many different eras in Disney’s history, such as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and Elsa with Olaf.
All of the items from this capsule collection are limited-edition and sold exclusively on Givenchy’s online shop. T-Shirts range in price from $520 to $600 while the hoodies cost $790. An additional capsule is expected in mid-summer.
