Kidrobot’s designer toy collaboration, Kidrobot x Disney, is an impressive collection of plushes and art figures inspired by characters from all across the world of Disney (and thanks to Disney+, that also includes The Simpsons and Home Alone). The collection already includes over 90 items and we are going to look at a sampling of what’s available.
Mickey Mouse
A character who needs no introduction, Mickey Mouse has been immortalized in more merchandise than I can count but Kidrobot still manages to put a unique spin on the character with this vinyl art figure. Mickey is reimagined as the King of Hearts in a deck of cards with some rather surreal results. This is a great gift for a Disney collector who seemingly has everything.
The Muppets
Kermit the Frog with Banjo 8-Inch Phunny Plush ($16.99)
It may not be easy being green but being cute doesn’t seem too hard for this Kermit the Frog Phunny Plush. Created by Kidrobot for the 10th anniversary of the movie, The Muppets, this stuffed toy is equipped with the amphibian’s beloved banjo. Kermit is 7.5-inches tall when seated.
Constantine 12-Inch Plush Hand Puppet ($20.99)
As seen in the film, Muppets: Most Wanted, and in countless memes across the internet, Kermit’s sinister doppelganger Constantine is now available as a hand puppet. And when you want to impersonate the more famous frog, simply remove the hand puppet’s hood and nobody is the wiser (unless they spot the telltale birthmark).
Lilo and Stitch
Laundry Stitch 7-Inch Phunny Plush ($16.99)
That mischievous alien Stitch is dressed in Lilo and Nani’s laundry just like in the closing scene from Lilo and Stich. He seems to know that his actions are on the naughty side because his tongue is sticking out in a cheeky facial expression. This Stitch Plush is 7-inches tall and arranged in a seated position.
Evil Stitch 16-Inch HugMe Vibrating Plush ($36.99)
This Stitch Plush is substantially larger than the other plushes seen so far, measuring 16-inches tall. He is part of Kidrobot’s HugMe Plush Collection, which features plushes that vibrate and shake when you hug them or clap near them. Stitch is dressed as he appeared at the beginning of the movie, in a spacesuit with six arms and a pair of antennae.
Alice in Wonderland
Cheshire Cat 13-Inch Plush ($29.99)
I am a sucker for a plush with a good tail and that perfectly (purr-fectly?) describes this Cheshire Cat Plush. Not only is the tail soft and squishy, like the rest of the huggable 13-inch plush, but it is also flexible! I also rather like how the Cheshire Cat has individual claws. It is a small detail but goes a long way to add to the “realism” of the toy.
White Rabbit 8-Inch Phunny Plush ($15.99)
This Mr. White Rabbit Plush is dressed in the same outfit at the start of Alice in Wonderland, complete with his beloved pocket watch. I particularly like that his tail and the tufts of fur on the top of the White Rabbit’s head and his cheeks are made with long pile fabric, giving them that “extra-fluffy” look. This plush measures 8-inches in the seated position.
This vinyl art figure is another designer toy spin on the White Rabbit. The white fur on this 7-inch tall figure is covered in flocking, adding an extra tactile element. Which White Rabbit do you prefer: the plush or the figure?
More Fun from the Kidrobot x Disney!
Gargoyles Goliath 8-Inch Phunny Plush ($17.99)
A reimagining of the hero from the beloved Disney Afternoon cartoon, Gargoyles, this Goliath Plush is a great example of some of the lesser-seen characters included in the Kidrobot x Disney Collection. And while during the day, Goliath is supposed to be made of stone, this 8-inch plush is ready for cuddles all-day, every day.
Nightmare Before Christmas Zero 13-Inch Interactive Light-up Plush ($29.99)
It may not be “Halfway to Halloween” anymore but I see no reason not to feature this positively precious Zero plush. The puppy poltergeist is a great size for the price, 13-inches tall and 27-inches long. And as one would hope from a Zero plush, the cutie lights up! But not just his nose, his whole body emits an otherworldly glow! He also features an adjustable wireframe to help pose him in any way you wish. This is my favorite of the featured toys.
