After an auspicious March debut on Disney+, April will usher in four new episodes of Marvel’s “Moon Knight,” adding a new franchise to the MCU. Not to be outdone, the Marvel shows that once were exhibited on Netflix are finally making their way to Disney+. These titles include “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” “Luke Cage,” “The Punisher,” and more. These shows will also include parental controls to prevent younger viewers from watching brutal fight scenes.

The new musical “Better Nate Than Ever” will drop to the platform on April 1. Based on the award-winning novel of the same name, thirteen-year-old Nate Foster has big Broadway dreams. When his parents leave town, Nate and his best friend Libby sneak off to the Big Apple for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to prove they can make their dreams come true.

Although the offerings of original content will be a little light in the coming month, fans who can’t get enough of the creative process within the Disney Studio will have something to cheer about. “Disney’s Sketchbook” will feature Disney’s animation movers and shakers with artists like Eric Goldberg, Mark Henn, Jin Kim, and Samantha Vilfort showing viewers how to draw some of Disney’s most iconic animated characters.

Disney and the 94th Academy Awards

Before we take a closer look at April’s digital programming, let’s give a round of applause to all the individuals who received Academy Awards at the 94th annual ceremony this past weekend. Here are some of the Disney Company’s top honors:

“Encanto” took home the prize for Best Animated Feature Film. The win adds to a list of accolades for the film that includes recognition from the Annie Awards, Art Directors Guild Awards, BAFTA Awards, Critics Choice Awards, Golden Globe® Awards, NAACP Image Awards, and Producers Guild Awards.

“Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised)” received the Oscar for Best Documentary. Although that portion of the show featured the now infamous altercation between Will Smith and Chris Rock, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson’s powerful film celebrated Black history, culture and fashion.

“The Eyes of Tammy Faye” won Best Actress in a Leading Role for Jessica Chastain’s portrayal of Tammy Faye Bakker. The film also won for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, which is Searchlight Pictures’ first Makeup and Hairstyling Oscar.
