Starting March 6, 2022, guests will be saying “Joyeux Anniversaire!” to Europe‘s #1 tourist destination when Disneyland Paris marks its milestone 30th Anniversary with a celebration of the past that also looks forward to a hopefully bright future.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be able to share some of the many surprises that we have in store for the 30th Anniversary of Disneyland Paris,” said Disneyland Paris President Natacha Rafalski. “The once-in-a-lifetime celebration of the resort’s enchanting past and exciting future will invite our guests to enter a new era where they will dream bigger, laugh louder, and smile wider.”

Some of the details Disneyland Paris has revealed about its magical anniversary celebration include new character costumes, a new daytime show – and nighttime pre-show – new anniversary merchandise, and special anniversary food and beverage offerings. Here’s a look at what Disneyland Paris will be doing to celebrate the occasion…

New Character Costumes

Perhaps taking a cue from Walt Disney World’s “Ear-idescent” 50th-anniversary character costumes, Mickey and all his friends will shine at Disneyland Paris’ anniversary celebration in colorful iridescent costumes, complete with bejeweled “30” details (like the ones on Mickey’s top hat and cuffs and Minnie’s bow).

However, being an international fashion icon, Minnie can’t possibly be expected to wear only one spectacular new anniversary costume for such a momentous occasion. Therefore, at Walt Disney Studios Park, the fashionable Miss Mouse will be wearing a pantsuit created by British designer Stella McCartney.

“I am delighted to be working with the one, the only, the iconic Minnie Mouse,” McCartney said. “What I love about Minnie is the fact that she embodies happiness, self-expression, authenticity, and that she inspires people of all ages around the world – plus, she has such great style! I wanted Minnie to wear her very first pantsuit at Disneyland Paris, so I have designed one of my iconic costumes – a blue tuxedo – using responsibly sourced fabrics. This new take on her signature polka dots makes Minnie Mouse a symbol of progress for a new generation.”

Minnie will wear her new pantsuit in honor of Women’s History Month in March 2022, and as part of a global collaboration with The Walt Disney Company, Stella McCartney will also market a unique Minnie Mouse t-shirt as part of the International Women’s Rights Day that will be exclusively available online and in Stella stores on March 8, 2022.

For those dedicated Minnie fans who have pointed out that Minnie has worn pants before (including her “Captain Minnie” uniform for the new Disney Wish), McCartney likely meant the first matching pants and jacket when she said “very first pantsuit,” and not that it’s the first time Minnie will be wearing pants.

“Dream… and Shine Brighter!” Daytime Show

A new daytime show will be performed several times a day in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland Park— which is even more beautiful than ever following its recent 12-month refurbishment.

“For the 30th Anniversary daytime celebration, we really wanted to focus on elements that are precious to us but also to our guest’s hearts,” said Show Producer Astrid Gomez.

Gomez explained that “Dream… And Shine Brighter!” is centered around three major themes: “Laugh Louder” because they wanted to share moments of joy and fun with park guests; “Love,” between couples as well as a love of friends and family; and “Dreams,” both the dreams we have when we’re sleeping and the dream to achieve our goals.

The new show will feature 33 Disney characters – from classic to contemporary – including Mickey and all his pals in their iridescent costumes, along with dancers and colorful new floats that will make their way down Main Street to the castle hub accompanied by a unique soundtrack that includes the brand new 30th Anniversary theme song, “Un Monde Qui S’illumine” (A World That Lights Up).

“Disney D-Light” Nighttime Pre-Show

Created just for the anniversary celebration, a new “moment” called “Disney D-Light” will be presented before the beloved nighttime spectacular “Disney Illuminations.”

“We are preparing a new state-of-the-art sequence of magic,” said Show Director Juan Fuentes. “It’s an immersive moment full of emotions, guided by music…with images projected on the castle, lights, fountains, lasers, many things that will make it a magical moment.”

The all-new “Disney D-Light” pre-show will also feature a choreographed light and air show featuring 200 drones – the first time drone technology will be used in a Disney Park as part of a daily outdoor show above its castle.

“We really wanted to find a very unique way to celebrate…this very special occasion…and as we thought about this next 30 years of Disneyland Paris, so drones seemed like a perfect opportunity,” said Disneyland Paris Entertainment Vice President David Duffy. “We also have this amazing 30th Anniversary logo – this really cool Mickey head that also is a 30 – so drones in the night sky seemed like a perfect way to bring it all together.”

The synchronized drones will form the sparkling figure “30” above Sleeping Beauty Castle, accompanied by the new anniversary theme song.

Gardens of Wonder

Another magical experience being introduced for the 30th-anniversary celebration is the new Gardens of Wonder at Disneyland Park, which will feature ten themed gardens created by Disneyland Paris Flower Project Manager Manon Hazebroucq and 30 moving pieces of art representing Disney and Pixar characters created by Disneyland Paris Artistic Director Yves Ollier.

“What I tried to do is to present the characters in hidden ways because when we see them stylized, they tell another story,” Ollier said. “What really mattered to me was to find an original way to make people rediscover something they already know.”

The kinetic sculptures will be placed in the garden where their characters would live – for example, sculptures of Baymax (Big Hero 6), Mushu (Mulan), and Sisu (Raya and the Last Dragon) will be in the Garden of Asia, and six Disney princesses will be in the Royal Garden.

Hazebroucq says she’s also working on a “magic trick” to make the plants glow after nightfall.

“What’s great with this project is that we are creating things that have never been done at Disneyland Paris,” she said. “I’m really looking forward to seeing these gardens come to life, see the mobiles turn, and see that magic that will set in motion.”

30th-Anniversary Food and Beverages

Beginning on March 6, 2022, Disneyland Paris guests will be able to enjoy more than sixty new dishes, including new vegetarian options like a vegan panini and a salted mashed potato waffle, and exclusive cocktails including the pink “Happy Birthday Cocktail” and the blue “Enchanted Flute.”

Disneyland Paris pastry chefs have also created a plate of five special anniversary desserts, including Mickey millefeuille with raspberry and blackberry ganache, Danish puffs with blueberry cream, and marshmallow tartlets covered with purple chocolate and black currant caramel.

“For this occasion, one of the first things was to work on the visual aspect before working on taste and texture,” said Disneyland Paris Pastry Sous Chef Thomas Jarry, “So that in one glance, when we bring the plate to the guests, they can be immersed in the celebration of the 30th Anniversary.”

30th-Anniversary Merchandise

With 63 boutiques and shops, there’s always something new to buy at Disneyland Paris, but for the resort’s 30th Anniversary, there will be more than 350 new exclusive items – the most significant product development program ever at Disneyland Paris.

From limited-edition collectibles to anniversary-themed keychains, mugs, plush, Minnie ear headbands, and sweatshirts, the 30th Anniversary collection has something for everyone. Plus, new collections and products designed in collaboration with renowned brands will continue to be added, so there are even more shopping opportunities – or “shopportunities” – in store.

Avengers Campus

The “super-est” announcement about Disneyland Paris’ 30th-Anniversary celebration is that it will include the opening of Avengers Campus at Walt Disney Studios Park in Summer 2022.

“I am thrilled to confirm that Avengers Campus will open in just a few months during the 30th Anniversary of Disneyland Paris,” Rafalski revealed. “Earth’s mightiest heroes will assemble for the next chapter of the Global Avengers Initiative… and we are excited to be currently building amazing attractions, restaurants, a shop, and meet and greet locations featuring your favorite superheroes.”

The highly-anticipated opening of Avengers Campus Paris will be connected to Avengers Campus California through storytelling and will further extend the immersive Marvel experience at Disneyland Paris that started with the opening of Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel in 2021.
