Rhine, Danube and Seine

In 2023, there are a total of 27 ABD adventures available along the Rhine, Danube and Seine rivers (booking now).

In partnership with AmaWaterways, whose riverboats Disney charters, guests will be able to explore several European countries expertly led by the brand’s signature Adventure Guides onboard and ashore. They will maximize time and fun experiences for the whole family in each port along eight-day, seven-night vacations.

On the Rhine, the storybook villages of Switzerland, France, Germany and the Netherlands will come to life with toboggan rides through the black forest, visit to an indoor winter park, and detailed views of 30 historic castles nestled in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley.

Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary will be showcased along the Danube, and featuring their medieval ruins, suspended rope bridges and famed rolling hills from none other than “The Sound of Music.”

If you’re interested in touring the Seine, French highlights will include provincial towns a la “Beauty and the Beast,” the storied beaches of Normandy, Monet’s House and Gardens at Giverny, the stunning cliffs of Etretat and Paris, the “City of Lights” itself.

Guests will have the option to extend their Parisian stay before the cruise with three-day, two-night Paris Escapes. Experiences therein will encompass dining in the Eiffel Tower, plus a private culinary tour and a local-guided visit to the Louvre Museum with an art detective activity for Junior Adventurers. And don’t forget that the city is also home to Disneyland Paris.

Themed Journeys During Sensational Seasons

Alternatively, there will be additional seasonal-themed cruises dedicated just to adults. Among those for families without children will be Oktoberfest voyages on the Danube and Food and Wine sailings on the Rhine, as well as special Christmas Market cruises along both the Danube and Rhine.

Picturesque Polar Expeditions

Disney will adventure with families to both the Arctic and Antarctica! Lisa Gatlin, senior manager, trip development at ABD, joined a press conference to convey the experiences.

“For both destinations, we really focus on authentic stories of the region and those immersive experiences that offer a little something for everyone, whether its searching for wildlife to take the perfect picture on a nature walk or playing a game of ‘Family Fjord’ onboard the ship,” expressed Gatlin. “There’s just always something to do on the expedition cruises.”

While guests can expect similar climates and to see whales at both poles, Antarctica and its distinct penguins are visited in our winter months, and the Arctic and its unique polar bears are explored in our summer — when in June and July of 2023, ABD will embark on grand solstice celebrations during the inaugural season. A pair of nine-night, Arctic Expedition Cruises are scheduled and chartered on Ponant’s Le Boreal.

Adding more reason to join, former Imagineer Joe Rohde will be a special guest host on the July cruise. Onboard, he is expected to chat about his career and nature conservation, plus conduct sketching classes for guests.

After a welcome dinner and overnight stay in Oslo, Norway, guests will take a direct flight to Svalbard, where the ship will be waiting. From there, routes will head to destinations such as Longyearbyen to greet its year-round population of more than 1,000 people and Kongsfjorden to discover its magnificent glaciers. Other highlights will be boat excursions to seek arctic foxes, bears, reindeer and walruses on a daily basis.
