There was a TON of Disney and theme park news and information this week! There was breaking news from Disneyland yesterday of a very small explosion in ToonTown. We also enjoyed the new show, Mickey and the Magical Map and the Monstrous 24 hour party. And just up the freeway, Knott’s opened three new family attractions and is about to reopen their Timber Mountain Log Ride. On the other side of the world, the Chinese government is reclaiming more land near Hong Kong Disneyland and a spectacular Summer Festival is happening at the Tokyo parks. And Bob Gurr gives us a delightful history lesson by reintroducing us to the amazing Herb Ryman, Walt’s finest artist.

Memorial Day weekend at the Disneyland Resort started off the Summer Season with a Monstrous 24 Hour Day, the re-opening of the Fantasyland Theater, complete with a new show, a Greek Festival near It’s A Small World. Characters from the Monsters University Fraternity Oozma Kappa kicked off the Pixar Play Parade, and Mickey and Friends got into the spirit of May the 4th a few weeks late! Oswald cartoons were shown in Toontown, and several characters ended the 24 hour day in nightcaps and pajamas! Yes, it’s been a wild week at the resort. ~ Aladdin

For seven years, the Disney Princesses, aka the Royal Mafia, held court inside the shell of the old Fantasyland Theatre. The last bit of live theatre performed in this space, Snow White: An Enchanting Musical, was a high-concept piece of stage work that featured elaborate sets and songs from the classic 1937 film, but left with little fanfare.

Read all about these stories, as well as a slew of others, in the Walt Disney World forum. ~yoyoflamingo
Joffrey’s Fresh Brewed Coffee inside Magic Kingdom
