Magic Kingdom’s heartfelt “Happily Ever After” fireworks spectacular has come to a bittersweet end. But that also means something new is on the way. “Disney Enchantment” officially launches on October 1st in celebration of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. But we got to preview it last night. We’ll tell you all about the new show, share some colorful images, and show you some spectacular video. The question is, does this show live up to the high expectations of a 50th Anniversary…
Magic Kingdom “Disney Enchantment” Fireworks Show
The Magic Kingdom castle-centric fireworks spectaculars have developed over the years to increasingly focus on projections on the castle and colorful spotlights through the smoke. The newest show, Enchantment, will take those projections a step further by stretching them all the way down Main Street USA (as Disneyland has been doing for several years).
“Disney Enchantment” fireworks officially launch for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary on Oct. 1, 2021, as part of“The World’s Most Magical Celebration.” Whether the show will continue after the 18-month celebration is unknown and perhaps depends on your reaction.
Like many Disney shows these days, this one seeks to inspire viewers to believe in the magic within them. The music, moments, and characters are mostly from the recent Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios films. And an original song, “You Are the Magic,” was written and performed by Philip Lawrence (who started his career as a Disney World cast member).
During the show you’ll see projections and hear music from Moana, Peter Pan, Aladdin, The Princess and the Frog, Coco, Tangled, Onward, and a wonderful segment featuring music from Fantasia’s Bald Mountain scene.
Disney Enchantment is a beautiful show. The fireworks are bigger than those in Happily Ever After, and there is some wonderful music, including some audio Easter eggs from Wishes. EPCOT’s Harmonious contains many of the songs from Happily Ever After’s soundtrack, and in honor of the park’s 50th anniversary it was time for a new show at Magic Kingdom. We’ll truly miss Happily Ever After, but Disney Enchantment harnesses both the charm of Wishes, along with the vibrant projections and innovative pyro of Happily Ever After. And yes, Tinker Bell flies!
Not to mention, Cinderella Castle is STUNNING with layers of 50th decor and varying light effects throughout the show and immediately afterward.
