Knott’s Berry Farm’s 100th Anniversary is in full swing but they’re already thinking ahead to 2071. The park pulled together a character-filled event to fill a time capsule to be opened 50 years from now! In it, they placed something from every department in the park…
Hosting the ceremony were several citizens of Ghost Town, led by the Mayor of Calico.
Each item placed in the Boysenberry Jam-themed time capsule was an everyday part of Knott’s Berry Farm. Whittles was first, and he brought…fool’s gold.
Next, a banner signed by Knott’s employees. I think you’ll find that to be a pattern, all the non-character representatives on stage are actual Knott’s employees.

Next, Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant’s menus. (What do you think a chicken dinner will cost in 50 years?)
The Sherriff brought some dirt and boysenberry seeds to represent the Horticulture department.
Ghost Town attractions brought a bridle from the stagecoach.
Boardwalk attractions included a Jam blaster from Bear-y Tales.
For Camp Snoopy, Snoopy included a…Snoopy.
Representing Ghostrider, a board from the rollercoaster.
For park operations, a janitorial employee included a bottle of cleaner, gloves, and a roll of toilet paper (I’m not so sure people fifty years from now will understand the significance of the toilet paper after the Great Shortage of 2020!)
Boardwalk games shot and scored a…barrel.
To wrap things up, the Boys and Girls Club placed a few items as well (they didn’t say what, but it looks like a t-shirt and some pamphlets).
This was a big moment so, of course, it required documentation! We were all instructed to turn around so the Knott’s team could take a big picture of the entire crowd.
