If you’re a fan of scary haunt-style events, there’s a new option in SoCal this fall that’s calling your name. SeaWorld San Diego just announced that Howl-O-Scream will be coming to the park this fall, operating on select nights from September 17 through Halloween. You may know SeaWorld as a lighthearted, family-friendly place to visit during the day, but things will get creepy at night with Howl-O-Scream. Let’s take a look at the brand-new Halloween event…
Howl-O-Scream Announcement
SeaWorld San Diego surprised media guests with the announcement that they will be hosting Howl-O-Scream for the first time ever in San Diego today. To kick off the announcement, SeaWorld gave media a little sneak peek of the scares that lie ahead.
Howl-O-Scream Haunted Houses and Scare Zones
For the first year of SeaWorld San Diego’s Howl-O-Scream event (the company already does Howl-O-Scream in other parks around the country), they’re diving into the haunt world.
Three haunted houses will take popular horror themes and up the scare level. You can visit The Asylum where you take a first-person narrative view and become a human test subject trying to escape The Doctor’s clutches. At The Slaughterhouse you’re sure to find a gruesome and grisly scene, just be on the lookout for Simon the Butcher! Finally, Death Water Bayou has maze participants avoid the curse of the Swamp Witch.
In addition to the haunted houses, there will be 7 scare zones and 4 roaming haunts around the park.
Howl-O-Scream Entertainment
Although the main focus of Howl-O-Scream is the horror, there are also some more lighthearted aspects to the event. You can find a high-energy musical dance show, along with zombie DJs and party zones. So even if you’re prone to scaring up a fright, you’ll still have a good time.
Plus, don’t forget about the coasters. SeaWorld San Diego is home to some thrilling attractions like Electric Eel, Manta, and Journey to Atlantis. But how would you like to ride them in the dark? Howl-O-Scream provides a dose of nighttime terror to SeaWorld’s high-octane rides.
And throughout the night, there will be opportunities to recharge and temper your spirits with, well, spirits. Around the park, you will find several uniquely themed haunted bars with creepy cocktails and restless spirits to quench your thirst for fear and drink.
Dates and Tickets
SeaWorld San Diego’s inaugural Howl-O-Scream will operate Friday-Sunday with some additional Thursdays from September 17 through October 31. The event features two admission levels, single-night (starting at $39.99) and unlimited admission ($99.99). Additionally, SeaWorld pass holders can get a discount on tickets.
