By now, Disneyland fans have heard about all the changes to the Snow White dark ride in Disneyland’s Fantasyland. I’ve never understood why a ride that was essentially designed for children would have such a frightening theme. So, I was happy to hear about the newly imagined ride, now called Snow White’s Enchanted Wish. Doesn’t it sounds more family friendly already?

As an adult, I loved the addition of more color, whimsy, and storytelling to the new ride, and it’s been well-received overall by the public. But what have kids thought about the revamped ride? I decided to ask my 12-year-old daughter, Alexis, for her expert Disneyland-loving opinion.

Q: What did you think about the former Snow White’s Scary Adventures ride?

A: I was younger when I rode it and it was a little scary. They didn’t explain the story of Snow White as much as I wanted them to in the old ride. I didn’t really like it because compared to all the other rides in Fantasyland, it didn’t tell a complete story.

Q: What do you think about the new Snow White’s Enchanted Wish, overall?

A: It was a major upgrade and much better than before. It tells a complete story now and it was also visually pleasing. I felt like the ride was longer and that’s a good thing. I think previously it was scarier because they elaborated more on the Evil Queen turning into the Witch. Now, they still have the Witch but she’s not the focus of the ride, Snow White is.

Q: What are some of your favorite elements of the ride now?

A: I liked the mine with all the crystals and jewels because it was really pretty and it helped tell the story. I’m glad they kept the part where the Evil Queen turns into the Witch because I’ve always thought that was very clever. I also like the first scene where all the Dwarfs and Snow White are now dancing. The characters also look much happier now.

Q: Any negatives with the new ride?

A: I don’t know. There probably are and I just can’t think of them. Even though the ride now feels more complete, I still kind of wanted more of the story. But overall, I think it’s a very well-executed ride.

Q: Would you go back? Who should ride it?

A: Yes, I would definitely go back. It’s now on my list of must-do rides in Fantasyland. Before, it definitely was not. It depends on the kid if they would still be scared on the ride because of the dark parts, but I think the previous ride was much scarier than it is now. If you love all the other Fantasyland dark rides, I would definitely go on this one. I hate scary rides and I didn’t have to close my eyes once!
