Trick or treat! It’s almost summertime, which means… it’s almost HALLOWEEN! Well, at the Disney parks, that is!
We’ve reached the halfway point to All Hallow’s Eve, which makes this a great time for us to look ahead to what’s on the way to Walt Disney World this coming Halloween season.
After Hours BOO BASH Coming to Magic Kingdom
After the cancelations and postponements from 2020, Magic Kingdom Halloween parties are slowly coming back in 2021!
While Mickey’s Not-So Scary Halloween Party is still on hold for the time being, an after Hours BOO BASH will offer plenty of frightful fun during the fall season. Since the BOO BASH is an After Hours event, this means it will be open to a limited number of guests, after normal park operating hours, offering low attraction wait times for 20+ attractions! Registered guests will have free-reign of the park for three hours after park closing. Party music, decorations, themed character cavalcades and sightings will set the mood for celebrating!
Guests young and young at heart can dress up in their favorite costumes for the occasion while filling their Halloween bags full of candy and riding their favorite Magic Kingdom attractions! Exclusive culinary offerings, event entertainment (including the beloved Cadaver Dans!), and merchandise will also be available throughout the evening.
Disney After Hours BOO BASH will run on select nights beginning August 10th, through October 31st. BOO BASH tickets will grant admission to Magic Kingdom park as early as 7:00 PM without the need for a park ticket or Disney Park Pass theme park reservation.
JUNE 2ND UPDATE:
Disney has shared additional information for this year’s After Hours BOO BASH event nights, including ticket prices, the entertainment lineup, and some food offerings.
Tickets are available beginning June 8th. Prices start at $129 (plus tax) for August and September nights. October nights start at $159, and Halloween night will cost $199, plus tax. Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club members can take advantage of a $10 discount for event nights, in August and September only.
The cavalcades from last year’s modified Halloween festivities will return for these exclusive event nights, including Mickey Mouse and friends, Disney Villains, and Jack Skellington with Sally and Oogie Boogie in tow. The fire-breathing Maleficent from Disney’s Festival of Fantasy Parade will also make an appearance! Additional characters will be “lurking about”, surprising guests from various pop-up locations throughout Magic Kingdom. The beloved Cadaver Dans make their return to Main Street U.S.A. for performances throughout the night.
Since this is an After Hours event, select snacks like popcorn, ice cream novelties and select beverages are included with your ticket. Exclusive dishes have been created for the event nights, like the Foolish Mortal Funnel Cake:
No Mickey Pumpkin decorations? Since these Halloween events will be happening alongside the Walt Disney World resort’s big 50th anniversary, Walt Disney Imagineering and the WDW Holiday Services team are dreaming up a fall look inspired by the enchanting story of Cinderella. Special pumpkin coach decorations will add to Magic Kingdom’s “EARidescent” celebration blended with the autumn season.
What wasn’t mentioned are parades and shows…
My big question is… will we see some sort of BOO BASH fireworks show above Cinderella Castle? We’ve heard rumors that fireworks just might return to Magic Kingdom this July… we’ll just have to wait and see. A spooky fireworks display would definitely add to the party ambience, and the event ticket’s value!
