Disneyland Hotel Reopening July 2nd Including Trader Sam’s & Other Hotel News

Disneyland is marching toward a full reopening. With most state restrictions set to expire on June 15th, Disneyland has begun increasing capacity in the parks. Of course, that means more hotel rooms are needed. 

The Disneyland Hotel will return to service on July 2nd after an extensive refurbishment during the shutdown. In this phased reopening, the Fantasyland Tower will reopen first (it’s the tower located over the lobby). The Frontierland and Adventureland towers will return as needed at a later date.

Updated Disneyland Hotel Rooms:

The rooms have been upgraded with new platform beds (that you can push a suitcase under for extra room), new linens and upholstery, and carpeting with a fireworks pattern. The hallways have added Mary Blair inspired carpeting as well. You could already find Mary Blair artwork on the walls throughout the lobby area, which will tie in nicely with the new decor in the rest of the tower.  

Along with the hotel, some popular dining spots will also return. 

Disneyland Hotel Dining:

The Trader Sam’s Tiki Bar will reopen on July 2nd. The bar has a loyal following and is a relaxing spot with indoor and large outdoor patio (Trader Sam’s WILL BE OPEN to non hotel guests).  Nearby, Tangaroa Terrace will also return. This is the main quick service food spot for the hotel. And the Coffee House will also operate with limited hours. Both Tangaroa Terrace and the Coffee House will offer mobile order for quick pickup.  

Not mentioned for a July reopening are Goofy’s Kitchen, Steakhouse 55, or the Granville Lounge. We await further word on their return.  

Disneyland Hotel Pool Complex: 

The beautiful pools of the Disneyland Hotel will also return. This includes the clever monorail themed slides, Mickey and Minnie shaped whirlpools, and the fitness center.  Cabanas can be rented for an additional fee.

Other Hotels of the Disneyland Resort

Currently, the only on-site hotel in operation is the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. The Grand Californian reopened on April 29 with limited services and dining available to guests, with the Craftsman Bar & Grill and Hearthstone Lounge only available to resort guests. But starting May 28, the Napa Rose and Storytellers Café will be reopening as well. 

The adjacent Craftsman Grill is open for social-distanced indoor or patio dining, but was completely empty at lunchtime on Wednesday. 

Along with the reopening of Napa Rose and Storytellers, non-hotel guests will be able to return for dining. Reservations will resume at a later date. But character dining will remain unavailable for now. 

Guests of the Grand Californian are currently unable to enter Disney California Adventure from the hotel and have to walk through Downtown Disney to the Esplanade for park entry. However, beginning May 28th, the hotel guest entry to the park will reopen.  

Nearby, the rebuilt hotel spa remains closed. The Tenaya Stone Spa does not have an opening date yet.  

The hotel’s gift shop has reopened and is fully stocked with spirit jerseys, pins, clothes, towels, swimsuits, snacks, and necessities.

Paradise Pier Hotel Reopening June 15th

Another hotel option will reopen on June 15th, when Disneyland’s most affordable hotel returns.  Unfortunately, there will be no food or beverage service at the hotel upon reopening and guests will have to visit Downtown Disney or the Grand Californian Hotel for food service.
