If there’s two things I love, it’s a visit to a Disney Park and the chance to eat some great food. Since Disneyland is my home park, a trip to Walt Disney World in Florida is a chance to both try new foods and revisit the ones I’ve missed.
Although Disneyland will reopen soon, not all my favorite Disney Park food will be available there. In fact, every park has a handful of items that can’t be found anywhere else. As I plan my latest trip to Walt Disney World— hopefully for later this year— I’ve been thinking of some of my favorite eats there. Although I love Disneyland’s assortment of food and treats, there are just some options that can’t be found outside of Walt Disney World. Here are the top five of my list that are Walt Disney World exclusive.
Top 5 Walt Disney World Foods You Can’t Find at Disneyland
5. Citrus Swirl (Sunshine Tree Terrace at Magic Kingdom/Adventureland) – Disneyland may have the famous Dole Whip, but I prefer Walt Disney World’s frozen treat instead, which is a mix of vanilla soft serve and orange sorbet.
The citrus cuts through the sweet creaminess of the vanilla nicely. Heck, this sweet treat even has its own mascot, the adorable Orange Bird!
4. Werther’s Caramel Popcorn (Karamell-Kuche at EPCOT/Germany Pavillion) – I know this specialty popcorn has a cult following, and for good reason. Sure there’s plenty of luscious caramel-coated goodness to be found at this store, from caramel apples to thick chocolate-covered slabs of caramel. But there’s something special about their Werther’s Caramel coated popcorn, especially when they’ve just made a fresh, warm batch of this crispy snack. You may want to buy more than one bag: some to snack on now as you wander EPCOT’s World Showcase, and some for later when you’re back at your hotel.
3. Cheeseburger Spring Rolls (Spring Roll Cart at Magic Kingdom/Adventureland) – I will never understand how an unassuming little spring roll can taste exactly like a McDonald’s cheeseburger. This snack is shockingly good and takes me back to the days of ordering Happy Meals as a kid. I tried these meaty, cheesy rolls for the first time as part of the buffet spread at the Happily Ever After Dessert Party. Fortunately, you can also find them at the food cart located between the Jungle Cruise and the Tiki Room.
2. Bread Service (Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Villas Kidani Village AND Tiffins at Animal Kingdom Theme Park) – A trip to Sanaa at the Animal Kingdom Lodge is mandatory not just to check out the fabulous animals roaming the savannah while you eat, but for their amazing bread service. This modest-looking tray of nine different dipping sauces ranging from sweet and spicy to creamy and herby, alongside some soft, warm naan bread (there are at least 5 types to choose, from traditional naan, spiced naan, garlic-ginger naan, onion kulcha, or paneer paratha).
Doesn’t that look amazing?! But when you get to dipping those savory naan in each of those sauces, it’s mind-blowingly good. In fact, after the first time I tried it, I almost bought the tray (which was available for sale at the Johari Treasures gift shop on-site) to try and recreate it at home. That said, I don’t think it could pass up the experience I had at Sanaa.
1. ‘Ohana Bread Pudding (Normally at ‘Ohana but currently at Kona Cafe at the Polynesian Village Resort) – As someone without a huge sweet tooth, I can tell you that the hype for this dessert is absolutely real! It’s made with Ohana’s famous breakfast bread as its base, which is a sweet, soft pineapple coconut Hawaiian bread. It’s then topped with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream, and on the side, a small pitcher of warm banana caramel sauce to pour over it, melting the ice cream all over the bread pudding. As my husband declared once, “It’s so good you could dip a napkin in this stuff and I’d eat the napkin.” It is normally served at the end of their all-you-can-eat dinner service, but currently, with all the renovations going on at the Poly, it is an off the menu secret item you can order at the Kona Cafe. Just make sure you check with your server.
