February is Black History Month and there are a few ways that Disney is participating around the Walt Disney World resort. With installations at both Disney Springs and EPCOT, “Celebrate Soulfully” honors Black heritage through the history of jazz, plus some tasty treats. Here’s a quick look at what you can find!
Celebrate Soulfully at Disney Springs
Scattered around Disney Springs, there are art displays that are inspired by the most recent Disney-Pixar film, Soul. The art from this installation is created by up and coming Black artists, and their own unique interpretation of the movie’s main character, Joe Gardener and his connection with jazz.

While you stroll through Disney Springs, you may just hear some jazzed up versions of your favorite Disney tunes. Also, if live music is more to your interest, check out Motown Mondays, Jazz Thursdays, and Smooth Sundays three evenings a week. The live music can be found throughout Disney Springs. Sounds like a great evening out!

When we visited, we were able to hear Motown Madness for a while! It’s definitely a lot of fun to enjoy some live music.
Make sure to stop by the Art of Disney in the Marketplace to see artist spotlights of Floyd Norman, Bruise Smith, and Marlon West, animators who have worked on various Walt Disney Studios Animation productions.

You can also pick up some Princess and the Frog inspired art to add to your collection.

If you are in a shopping mood, World of Disney Super Hero Headquarters and the Marketplace Co-Op are featuring merchandise from “Princess and the Frog,” “Soul” and “Black Panther.” Don’t miss Bowes Signature Candles in Marketplace Co-Op founded by Jamaica native David Bowes for featured scents as “Jamaica Me Crazy.”

A visit to Disney Springs is not complete without a visit to Amorette’s Patisserie to check out the amazing pastry creations. As a part of Celebrate Soulfully, petit cakes featuring Princess Tiana and Joe Gardner are available to tempt your taste buds. The cakes feature tantalizing layers of chocolate and raspberry.

Celebrate Soulfully at Epcot
The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure showcases the history of Jazz across America with Joe Gardner from “Soul.”

Display cases exhibit sheet music, instruments, and pictures of Jazz musicians.

The Art of Disney at the American Adventure features merchandise from the movie Soul.
