Another year means another entry in the Midnight Masquerade Collectible Series. The theme for this year’s collection is “Villains.” Using concept art crafted by Steven Thompson and doll designs from J. Fuchs, Disney is releasing six sinister yet stylish characters for collectors to choose from: Maleficent, Lady Tremaine, Ursula, Yzma, Evil Queen, and Hades. One character will be released each week, starting on October 6. Each doll will cost $129.99.

Maleficent (from Sleeping Beauty) – Oct. 6

The Mistress of All Evil is the first doll to be released. Maleficent’s mask draws inspiration from her frightening dragon form. The cape on her gown is fittingly accented with flames.

Maleficent’s doll is limited to 5,200 pieces and will be available here from 7am Pacific to 11:59pm Pacific on October 6.

Up close, you can see that her collar is designed to look like her raven, Diablo.

Lady Tremaine (from Cinderella) – Oct. 13

Lady Tremaine is ready for the ball in her dress with a key motif, after the one she used to lock up Cinderella with. There is even key hidden in the handle of her mask.

Lady Tremaine’s doll is limited to 4,400 pieces and will be available for purchase here from 7am to 11:59pm Pacific on October 13.

I love the look of smug superiority on her face.

Ursula (from The Little Mermaid) – Oct. 20

From her eel-shaped boa to the crown (that looks eerily close to King Triton’s) on one of her tentacles, Ursula’s outfit is full of detail. Her mask seriously gives me the creeps, though. It uses her human persona, Vanessa, as a base, and then surrounds it with tentacles.

The Ursula doll is limited to 5,100 pieces and will be available here from 7am to 11:59pm on October 20.

Yzma (from The Emperor’s New Groove) – Oct. 27

Now, here is a character you don’t see every often. Yzma’s dress is simple compared to the other’s but she makes up for it wit her eye-catching (faux) feathered headdress. Her mask has nods to both Emperor Kuzco’s crown as well as the Yzma’s kitten form from the last few scenes of the film. And can we appreciate how well the doll sculpt captures the crafty villainess’s boney frame? Love it!

Yzma’s doll is limited to 4,500 pieces and will be available here from 7am to 11:59pm Pacific on October 27.

Evil Queen (from Snow White) – Nov. 3

The peacock feather motif seen in the Evil Queen’s gown and mask are taken from her throne seen in the movie. Her smirk looks awfully cunning, don’t you think?

The doll of the Evil Queen is limited to 5,000 pieces and will be available here from 7am to 11:59pm Pacific on November 3.

Hades (from Hercules) – Nov. 10

Hades has two masks for the price of one! The Greek God of the Dead has a mask for each of his servants, Pain and Panic. The print on his cape, resembling the souls floating along the River Styx, is a clever movie tie-in.

The doll of Hades is limited to 4,300 pieces and will be available here from 7am to 11:59pm Pacific on November 10.
