ILMxLabs has been teasing their new Star Wars VR game based on Galaxy’s Edge for months. Today, they showed the first small bit of gameplay and we’re impressed.

In the short video teaser, C3-PO (Anthony Daniels) and R2-D2 begin by telling their story of your arrival on Batuu following a pirate attack.

Seems like there will be plenty of blaster fire, explosions, and action. From what ILMxLabs explained leading up to the teaser, Galaxy’s Edge will be the catalyst for various stories. One story even includes your favorite little green Jedi, Yoda.

The game will immerse you in the legends and stories of Star Wars, giving Galaxy’s Edge fans a deeper understanding of the world created for the parks while also giving fans of all Star Wars eras a little something. The latter will be delivered through an earful from the bartender, Seezelslak (Bobby Moynihan), drink in hand at his cantina.

Looks like we’ll see Mubo, the owner of the Droid Depot.

You play a droid repair technician who crashes on Batuu after being attacked by pirates. Of course, this being Star Wars, you’ll get involved in an adventure on the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost. “You will also receive important missions to complete in the wilds of Batuu, encountering new and iconic characters along the way, like the pirate Tara Rashin (Debra Wilson) and C-3PO (Anthony Daniels).”

We’re excited to hear more as the holiday release date draws closer.

Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge will be available on Oculus Quest and Quest 2 (no mention of Oculus Rift yet). Now may be  good time to get into VR, with faster hardware, sharper screens, and a cheaper price with the Quest 2 ($100 less at $300). And with Disneyland closed, it’s also a way to explore the newest addition to the park.

Now, where can I get a Fuzzy Tauntaun?
