Yeehaw! We are coming up on the middle of the month, which means it’s time for another addition to Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction Collection. September’s series is based on the classic Western-themed roller coaster, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. This series will be available for purchase on September 15, starting at 7am and ending at 11:59pm Pacific. Are you ready to see Minnie Mouse dressed as the wildest ride in the wilderness?

How to Purchase The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Series

Like the previous two months (Peter Pan’s Flight and The King Arthur Carrousel), this series is available to purchase through shopDisney using their MerchPass system. If you need a refresher on how that all works, here is the rundown:

What is MerchPass?

MerchPass is a lottery-type system that allows those lucky enough to get a pass the first opportunity to buy high-demand Disney items.

How MerchPass works and things to know

  1. You must have an account on shopDisney.com to enter.
  2. You are entering for an opportunity to purchase an item or items. You get to select which items you want a chance at buying.
  3. You can enter multiple drawings but only one item entry per drawing is allowed. If your entry was selected, the product will be automatically added to your shopDisney Bag, log in to complete your purchase.
  4. If selected, you will get an email from shopDisney announcing you won a chance to purchase. Be sure to check your spam folders as well. If you don’t receive an email, then you weren’t selected. Additionally, if you are selected, you are not required to buy the item(s) you were interested in.
  5. Selected winners will have a limited-time window to purchase the items.

The window for MerchPass entries for Minnie Mouse: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Series will open September 15 at 7am Pacific and close that same day at 11:59 pm Pacific.

The merchandise shown below can be purchased here. Please note that this link is not active until September 15 at 7am Pacific.

Now that the nitty-gritty details are out of the way, let’s take a look at the goods!

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Minnie Mouse Plush ($29.99)

Outfitted with a bandana and faux suede boots, this Minnie plush certainly looks more rugged than those we have seen in previous months. Along the bottom of her skirt, you’ll spot one of the runaway mine trains chugging along with the mountain range behind it. I love the style used to depict the train. Instead of being ornate or overly stylized, it is looks like simple embroidery that’s perfectly suited for the rough theme of the attraction. And I especially appreciate the logo for the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad printed on her satin bandana (you’ll spot it in the second picture).

Hang on to them hats and glasses . . . here’s Miss. Minnie . . .

A look at the backside of the plush. You can see the ride’s logo on Minnie’s bandana.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Loungefly Mini Backpack ($75)

Boy, it is a good thing I liked that logo because it all over the place on this mini backpack from Loungefly. Not only is the image seen on both sections of the plush bow (note the hidden Mickeys!) but it is also embroidered on the front pocket. That scenic desert vista found on the Minnie plush’s skirt is also the background print for the front pocket. And do I spy train tracks on the side pockets?

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Ear Headband for Adults ($29.99)

The same bow from the mini backpack makes an encore appearance on the Ear Headband. The faux leather rope appears to be holding the bow together in the center. That now-familiar Big Thunder Mountain range is studded with sequins. And once again hints of embroidered train tracks, seen on the headband itself, are a simple homage to the attraction.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Pin Set ($19.99)

As is typical of The Main Attraction series, the pin set includes a pin version of the Ear Headband as well as Minnie in the plush’s outfit. This month’s set also includes a Big Thunder Mountain Railroad train with the mountain range behind it. I think the Minnie pin looks particularly adorable with that pose. The Ear Headband one, unfortunately, less so. The leather rope portion of the bow didn’t translate well. It looks sort of like a wooden barrel to me. That could just be my perspective, of course.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Mug ($19.99)

In my opinion, this month’s stackable mug is the least impressive in the series so far. That said, I do still like the golden-hued paint used for the train and its tracks, and the textured look on the handle and base is a nice touch.

Looking Ahead

Fittingly, October is the month chosen for the Haunted Mansion Series. I do hope that Minnie is dressed in a maid outfit similar to the one for the attraction’s cast members! What do you hope the next collection will look like?
