While guests to Walt Disney World currently have access to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge merchandise, those of us on the West Coast (and everyone else, for that matter) have been out of luck . . . until now! Starting August 30, merchandise inspired by Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be sold online at Target.com as well as in Target stores. You may recall Disney Store merchandise began rolling out at Target last October, so this development didn’t come completely out of the blue.

A portion of the collection, dubbed “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Trading Outpost,” is currently available for pre-order, while the remainder of the goods will arrive on August 30. It should be noted that the books in this collection have already been released and can be shipped or picked up now (provided they are in stock).

PLEASE NOTE – Some of these items are already selling out on pre-order, but more stock may be made available in the near future or saved for the stores.

Hyperdrive BB Unit ($99.99)

This BB Unit is about as close to the Droid Factory as most people are going to get. It operates via remote control and has light and sound effects. And rolls around on command, of course. The “Hyperdrive Mode” lets it zip around at a faster speed. But although its packaging resembles that found in Galaxy’s Edge (where other merchandise does not), it is missing some key features. For one, it does not connect to the Droid Factory section of the Disney Play app. Also, its personality is not customizable like the ones at the Droid Factory. If you don’t mind these omissions, then this might be the droid for you.

The Vintage Collection Millennium Falcon Smuggler’s Run ($399.99)

At such a steep price tag, this one is definitely for the collectors and not a child’s plaything. That being said, for a collector’s item, it has some pretty nifty features. Not only does it include scale figures of Chewbacca, Hondo Ohnaka, and six porgs, but it also has a cockpit that opens, a gunner seat, an escape pod, three projectiles, and sound effects and radar dishes. I don’t know about you, but I would not be able to resist the temptation to take this baby out of the box and play with it.

The Black Series DJ R-3X Toy Figure ($24.99)

A familiar face from Star Wars theme park lore, R-3X, now DJ R-3X, can be found rocking out at Oga’s Cantina. Hasbro’s The Black Series is known for its attention to detail and this figure looks to be no exception. All three limbs are fully articulated making it easy to display the droid in any pose you wish.

The Black Series Captain Cardinal ($24.99)

Another figure from Hasbro’s The Black Series. This 6-inch tall figure has articulated arms and legs. I love that his cape is made of actual fabric rather than being a hard plastic piece.  It makes posing the figure so much easier and the poses themselves look more natural.

LEGO Star Wars Resistance I-TS Transport ($99.99)

This 932-piece LEGO set is based on the shuttles seen in the attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. The set includes mini-figures of Lieutenant Bek and Vi Moradi as well as figures of an Astromech Droid and a GNK Power Droid. Once built, the top and sides of the shuttle can be removed for play purposes. It also has a cockpit, cargo hold, and even 8 stud shooters (4 rotating ones and 4 rear ones). The number of pieces sounds a bit too daunting for me personally but I can think of several LEGO enthusiasts who might enjoy taking a crack at this one.

Funko POP! R5 Unit – Target Exclusive ($8.99)

If the previous toys were a bit too costly for you (or perhaps you just collect POP! figures), this is the droid you were looking for. The toy is sold exclusively at Target, which I suspect is the reason it’s red. It’s simple, yet cute, design is typical of Funko’s POP! line. For me, POP! figures can be rather hit or miss but I think they did a good job on this one.
