SeaWorld Orlando offered a Flicks & Fireworks event on the weekend of July 10. While it was only scheduled for one weekend, it turned out to be quite popular. In fact, it was so successful that the event is now scheduled to run Friday and Saturday nights in conjunction with the just-announced Electric Ocean Remix through September 6, with an added show on Labor Day Weekend.

The Set-Up

Entering the parking area, everyone was separated between two sections. One for  SUVs/minivans and the other for cars. Each section had its own movie screen. Vehicles were spaced for social distancing. As long as you were around your car, there was no need for a mask. But if you left the general vicinity or were close to another guest, masks were required.

We’ve grown accustomed to these reminder signs throughout the theme parks.

As with any good drive-in movie, you can bring your own chairs. But with the social distancing measures, there was plenty of space and no worry about peering around other cars in order to see the screen.

The Food Trucks

The event officially started at 7:45pm with a variety of food trucks. They had a nice array of offerings. SeaWorld also had a booth selling popcorn, beer, wine, sodas, and bubble light-up toys. Bathrooms were located behind the food trucks in the learning center.

The Fireworks

SeaWorld’s Light Up The Sky is a brand new fireworks spectacular that brings the brilliant colors of the sea to the skies above the park. The parking area for the movie allowed us to easily view the show from our car. Additionally, you could listen to the music from the fireworks over your car’s radio!

The Movie

Immediately after the fireworks, the movie started. It was a beautiful clear night, with a nice breeze. The perfect night to enjoy a movie under the stars.

Can you guess the movie? If you guessed Madagascar, then you go it right! We had a nice clear view of the screen from our spot.

Overall Thoughts

SeaWorld did a good job with the setup and everyone seemed to be following the guidelines for safety. SeaWorld is currently the only Orlando theme park to be offering a night show. In the past, they had fireworks every weekend over the summer. A SeaWorld representative stated they were pleased with the turnout the previous week and decided to continue on for a second weekend. There are currently no other night shows on the schedule. However, their website was not updated until Thursday with the weekend’s information, even though tickets went on sale earlier. I’m hoping that this one-weekend event, that turned into two will continue on and additional weekends will be added through the rest of summer.

Electric Ocean Remix coming this Weekend!

SeaWorld just announced that it is bringing back its popular summer event, Electric Ocean! They’ve added the word “Remix” to the title to indicate that the event will be a bit different. The event includes the Light Up The Sky Fireworks and the fun Sea Lions Tonite show – an off-the-wall parody of a trip to SeaWorld. We really enjoyed this show last year and my son can’t wait to see it again.

One of the skits included the Sea Lions riding Mako.

In addition to the added sea lion show is entertainment at the Waterfront. The event includes a DJ, dancers and high energy atmosphere helps get guests ready for fireworks.
