Southern California theme parks have targeted reopening dates as the state moves closer to allowing Disney, Universal and other major parks to finally welcome back visitors following more than three months of closures.
Most California theme parks have proposed reopening dates along with detailed COVID-19 health and safety plans that still need to be approved by state officials.
California theme parks currently closed by the COVID-19 pandemic can reopen during Stage 3 of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s four-stage plan for reopening the state’s economy. California officials have not established a firm date for when the state’s theme parks can reopen.
Theme parks in California have been shuttered since mid-March due to the coronavirus outbreak. No theme parks in California have reopened.
The parks plan to implement a series of health and safety protocols that will include face masks, increased sanitization, social distancing, contactless payments, reduced attraction capacity and employee training.
