While the gates to Disneyland remain closed and contractors have been sent home, behind-the-scenes planning has not stopped. A slew of recent permits filed with the City of Anaheim suggests that Disneyland has projects to complete when construction workers return. Those new filings include plans for various attraction improvements, upgrades, and a potential long extension to this year’s Food and Wine Festival!

Food and Wine Could be Extended Thru September 7th

One of the biggest losers of the resort shut-down was the California Food and Wine Festival at Disney California Adventure. There are guests with unused (or partially used) Sip and Savor cards, Festival seminars bookings, etc. Looks like Disney now has the option to extend their Festival through September 7th, should they wish to do so. The updated permit would allow the park to keep Festival booths out on the Parade Route through the first week of September.  Utilizing that option would allow guests to use up their entitlements and give them extra reason to return after the parks reopen. It would also provide a bit of consolation if Avengers Campus misses its announced July opening, which is expected at this point since no construction is currently happening in the parks.

We think this would be a great idea and would love to see the Festival extended. Check out our coverage of this year’s Food and Wine Festival here!

Indiana Jones Aventure Refurbishment

After celebrating its 25th anniversary, the classic attraction, Indiana Jones Adventure looks to be getting some attention in the near future. Permits show that a few behind-the-scenes upgrades are heading to the ride along with replacement lighting fixtures. Another permit shows that the bridge is slated for replacement.

The changes will likely not be noticed by guests but will help ensure that the attraction will be able to perform for years to come.

Haunted Mansion

, Disneyland News – Possible Food and Wine Extension, Haunted Mansion Enhancement, & More One of the biggest project overhauls currently in-progress at Disneyland is the massive Haunted Mansion refurbishment. Details on the project have been scarce, but permits filed back in February shed a little light on what additions are being installed.

Electrical . . . show lighting… generators . . . ok. But what could that “Picture box” being cut out of an existing wall be for? OK, you Haunted Mansion nerds (and I use that term lovingly), help us think this one through!

Frontierland Bridge and Entrance Signage

This project almost happened earlier last year, but never quite got completed.

A surprising filing looks to bring change to the current entrance to Frontierland. The permit calls for a widening of the entrance bridge as well as the gate and entrance signage. This sounds like a Project Stardust thing to us.

Turn Up The Volume

Other permits call for an “Antenna Cell Site” in the “Golden State expansion,” which sounds like Avengers Campus to us.

It is important to note that, other than the extension of the Food and Wine Festival, these permit filings have nothing to do with Disneyland’s re-opening plans.
