With California and Florida under stay at home orders, theme parks which had previously posted April 1st reopening dates are beginning to push those dates out a bit further.
Here Are the Latest Theme Park Closure Updates

Universal Theme Parks
Universal Orlando and Universal Hollywood have adopted an April 19th potential reopening date. We have just received the following from park officials:
“We are extending the closure of Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood through April 19 as we continue to respond to current conditions and make the health and safety of team members and guests our top priority. This includes our theme parks and Universal CityWalk at both destinations. The Universal Orlando Resort hotels have also temporarily suspended operations. We will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments as needed, based on guidance from health agencies and government officials.”
Further, Universal will continue to pay its employees through the extended closure:
Knott’s Berry Farm
Meanwhile, Knott’s Berry Farm is going with a bit more reasonable mid-May (or as soon thereafter as is possible) message:
Disneyland
Disney has not yet made an official announcement, but failure to post cast schedules for the week of April 1st likely means the parks won’t be open as originally planned. Unfortunately, the company isn’t quite ready to officially announce a new date quite yet. Internally, this is what they are telling cast members:
Something more official for guests of the resort will need to be released soon, as there are no doubt potential travelers from elsewhere in the country assuming their April 1st Disney vacations are still on.

Disneyland Resort Original Announcement
Here’s what Disneyland originally announced on March 12th. They were the first of the large theme parks to announce a closure and triggered the announcements of the rest of the industry. Unfortunately, they are lagging behind other major players on the closure extensions.
