Update on Disneyland Resort Operations
While there have been no reported cases of COVID-19 at Disneyland Resort, after carefully reviewing the guidelines of the Governor of California’s executive order and in the best interest of guests and employees, Disney will be proceeding with the closure of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, beginning the morning of March 14 through the end of the month.
The Hotels of Disneyland Resort will remain open until Monday, March 16 to give guests the ability to make necessary travel arrangements; Downtown Disney will remain open. We will monitor the ongoing situation and follow the advice and guidance of federal and state officials and health agencies. Disney will continue to pay cast members during this time.
Disneyland Resort will work with guests who wish to change or cancel their visits, and will provide refunds to those who have hotel bookings during this closure period. We anticipate heavy call volume over the next several days and appreciate guests’ patience as we work hard to respond to all inquiries.
Additional Disney Coronavirus Closures and Updates
Disneyland cast members WILL be paid during the closure!
Labor Relations confirms that full time employees and union employees will be paid “mandatory closure shift pay.” That’s straight time pay with premiums for shifts which would have been scheduled. No overtime will be paid.
We are waiting on details about part-time pay during the closure.
Downtown Disney will remain OPEN during the closure.
Disneyland will join Shanghai Disneyland, Tokyo Disneyland, and Hong Kong Disneyland in closure or limited closure. The status of Disneyand Paris and Walt Disney World are pending.
In addition to the Disneyland closure, D23 will be canceling their Mickey’s of Glendale event as well as Disney Studios tours.
All Broadway shows in theaters over 500 seats, including all of Disney’s Broadway shows, will also close.
Universal Studios Hollywood Announces Closure
Message from Universal Studios Hollywood:
The health and safety of our team members and guests is always our top priority. Out of an abundance of caution and in response to the guidance provided by the California Department of Public Health, Universal Studios Hollywood will temporarily close beginning Saturday, March 14. The theme park anticipates reopening on March 28 as we continue to monitor the situation.
Universal CityWalk will remain open. We will provide timely updates as conditions evolve.

- However, the directors of Disney’s live action Mulan feature have confirmed that the film has been delayed due to the virus:
- Cirque Du Soleil Volta in Costa Mesa, California, has announced a cancelation of all performances.
- We await news from Knott’s Berry Farm, Six Flags, SeaWorld, and others.
Southern California Attractions Staying Open (For Now)
- Huntington Gardens and Library – Remains open, but public events have been canceled.
- LEGOLAND California is remaining open for now, but evaluating the situation on a day to day basis.
