Is your Youngling interested in becoming a Jedi? There’s no better place than Jedi Training Academy: Trials of the Temple at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Ironically, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge doesn’t offer this awesome experience, but here, your kids can train to use the Force and put the skills they learn to the test by fighting the powers of the Dark Side.
Jedi Training Academy Registration and Pre-Show
Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple is a free activity available to Younglings ages 4-12. In order for your little one to participate in the training session, you have to get them registered. Jedi Training registration is located at the Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost. These spots can fill up quickly, so if this is something on your kid’s to-do list, be sure to register early for the best selection of showtimes.
Upon successful registration, you will receive a receipt with your showtime plus your particular return time as a participant. The return time is 30 minutes prior to showtime and the show runs approximately 20 minutes. When selecting a show time, be sure to account for your FastPasses and other reservations.
When you return, all the young Jedi sit in rows as they learn of the Trials of the Temple.
Next, they receive their robes.
Finally, all of the Jedi head off to the Trials of the Temple in two lines from the Outpost. A Cast Member shouts “Here come the Jedi!” and the Youngling Jedi yell “Here we come!”
Jedi Training Academy Temple Training
At the Temple, the Jedi Knights come out to meet the Youngling Jedi.
The Jedi learn how to hold and use their Lightsabers.
The Jedi then use the Force to open the Temple doors. Darth Vader and Kylo Ren emerge.
Then each Jedi has the opportunity to fight one of the Star Wars villains.
After each of the Younglings have faced the evil Sith Lords, the Jedi band together and use the Force to send the baddies back into the Temple.
Completing Your Jedi Training Academy Experience
After Darth Vader and Kylo Ren have been defeated, the robes and lightsabers are returned for the next generation of Jedi to use. To remember their efforts defeating the Sith, each Jedi participant is given a pin as a remembrance of their experience.
There are PhotoPass photographers shooting throughout the training. Each family member is provided with a card with a code for the pictures.
How Scary Was Jedi Training Academy?
Johnny was very excited to have the chance to finally become a Jedi. He had seen the show many times and was ready to face the bad guys himself. But when it was time to check back in, he got nervous. He didn’t want to go on stage without me. We decided that once he and the other participants got to the stage if he didn’t want to participate he wouldn’t have to.
In the end, he completely forgot his fears and had a great time. Now he wants his own lightsaber to keep the adventure going (we’re going to try to hold off on that for now, but maybe in the future, he can build one of his own). In the meantime, Johnny cannot wait to try again, and hopefully, get to fight Darth Vader the next time around. I can say for myself, I would like the opportunity to go toe to toe with either. Oh, to be a Youngling again!

Let’s Hear From You
Sadly, Disneyland has done away with their Jedi Training Academy, and neither version of Galaxy’s Edge offers the experience. For now, the only spot in the Disney parks your child can learn to be a Jedi is at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios. Should this experience be incorporated into Galaxy’s Edge? If you can build a $200 lightsaber in the land, shouldn’t you be able to learn how to use it?
Has your Youngling ever completed the Jedi training? Does it sound like something they’d enjoy? let’s hear from you below.
