APs get a little more time for Soarin’ Over California
As we discussed right here a few weeks ago, Soarin’ is being reverted back to its original “California” film for a limited time during the run of the California Food and Wine Festival. Now comes the good news that Annual Passholders will get an extra hour to experience the high-flying attraction on a few Wednesday nights in March: March 11th, 18th, and 25th. To experience the extra hour, you have to be in the park prior to park closing and have your valid AP with you to enter the attraction. Soarin’ Over California Returning to Disney California Adventure

Hollywood Land Construction
Scaffolding is now in place to repair the painted skyline on the Hyperion’s parkside façade.
There is a themed barrier up to keep guests from getting too close to the construction.
The theater’s popcorn cart has been pushed out from behind the façade, while even more scaffolding is installed along the facade.
Captain America’s meet and greet area had to be temporarily relocated to accommodate the refurbishment as well.
Avengers Campus Construction
Something odd is happening at Avengers Campus. The Spider-Man attraction building had started to install some Circuit City-style red panels recently but now they’ve all been removed.

Everything else seems to still be moving forward.
From the sky, we can see a little bit deeper into the site.
New wooden structures have been installed on the Cars Land side of the site. If the plans remain unchanged since the D23 Expo last summer, this should be the Dr. Strange section of the land.
Cars Land Construction
Construction continues on the new backstage building behind Luigi’s. Decorations matching the scrim are starting to peek out from behind it. We wonder if that means the scrim is the concept art for the building’s façade itself.
Moving down to Mater’s, for the last few weeks the western-set of turntables have been behind construction walls, and the project may not be wrapping up for some time.
Peeking through the walls, we can see the turntables have been dismantled and hoisted up. Hopefully, the project can finish soon so some much-needed capacity can be added back to Mater’s.
Bakery Tour
The Bakery Tour reopened after a short refurbishment. If you miss having fresh bread bowls throughout the resort, you’ll be glad to know that everything is being ramped back up again for production right here in DCA.
While some of the needed sourdough products during the refurbishment came from area Boudin Bakeries, most did not. That’s why the bread bowls in New Orleans Square have had that rubbery texture to them while the Boudin Bakery was down in DCA. Thankfully, Boudin should be around for quite a while. They just renewed their operating agreement with Disney at the end of last year.
The only noticeable element of the refurbishment is the new Overhead Intermediate Proofer and its show lighting. Although, ALL of the equipment was removed and either cleaned or replaced during the extensive refurbishment.
Grizzly Peak Refurbishment
Grizzly River run has returned from refurbishment as well. The attraction looks nice and old again.
You’ll notice a new patch of cement at the attraction’s entrance, around a storm drain.
Around the back, construction walls remain up as work continues on the walkway that runs around the backside of the attraction.
The construction walls don’t impact the function of the attraction or its primary queue.
The refurbishment for Rushin’ River gift shop was supposed to finish alongside Grizzly, but the store is still closed.

Mickey and Friends Parking Structure
Work over at Mickey and Friends is getting very, very close to wrapping up. The new elevators are displaying floor numbers and the fresh smell of paint is in the air. To the left of the elevators, the new crosswalk into the Chip & Dale level is approaching completion.
Looking at Chip & Dale itself, it appears as though it could reopen anytime for guests to begin parking. We have noticed that the overhead parking spot indicators have been installed but are not operational at the moment.
Toy Story Lot
Moving to the Toy Story parking lot, the construction has been completed on the removal of the old bus loop. More parking spaces have been added in its place.
Running down the middle of the lot, an emergency road has been installed to allow access to the new bus loop from Convention Way.
It is also noteworthy that Disney Security has not yet set up the metal detectors and security screening at the Toy Story Bus Station yet. Guests will still have to go through screening once they reach the park for the time being.
This and That
Last week, we noticed that the Onward Sneak Peek sign in Tomorrowland had a spelling error (“Peak” instead of “Peek”). Disney has since corrected the mistake.
Near Small World, a churro cart has been pulled for refurbishment. The temporary Red Beauty and the Beast cart is filling its place.
Over at the Emporium, Disney has covered the Peter Pan diorama window for a (hopefully) short refurbishment. This window always seems to need a little more TLC than the rest of the Emporium windows.
Stage 17 in Hollywood Land has a construction wall around it for what looks like a quick repainting job, likely prepping for the upcoming Food and Wine Festival.
Lunar New Year is all packed up for now, but the booths are already being prepped for the return of the Food and Wine Festival, which starts at the end of next week.
Speaking of booths . . . eagle-eyed Micechat reader, Stephanie Fix, caught some festival booths being transported back to the resort on Sunday, near the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Sunkist Street in Anaheim. (Always let us know if you see breaking news, folks!)
The Paradise Garden Grill has been left closed since Lunar New Year ended. It should return for Food and Wine.
Similarly, the pergola by Paradise Garden Grill is empty for the time being. We’re going to miss seeing the area all decked out in Lunar New Year decor.
