Exclusive Interview with Stars of the Show

We hand the opportunity to speak with Ciara (bride) and Ali Diane (singer/songwriter) about their experiences during the new season.

Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings Season 2

There were a few things I had always wondered about the show. I’ve truly enjoyed watching it, and it was nice to get some insight as to what goes on during the filming of the weddings. Let’s chat with Ali, the bride’s friend and songwriter, first:

How long did it take to film?

Ali: “Filming took place over a couple of days that I was aware of.  I was not involved with the part of the show that was filmed in the park, with the bride and groom going on rides and exploring the happiest place on earth, but I know that they filmed for at least a few hours. They filmed a couple of hours in the bridal suite while we were getting ready for the wedding, hair, makeup, etc. The same was going on in the groom’s room. The wedding and reception took about 3 hours to film with multiple takes, angles, staging, etc. There was also another 1-2 hours of interviews after that with the bridal party, groomsmen, family, etc.”

Ali: “We spent a few hours the day before the wedding on post-production audio recordings and working out acoustics for the venue. We spent another hour the morning of the wedding.”

Ali: “I was only aware of a couple of days for the filming, but the bride told me that they also filmed in their home town for a couple of days, interviews and such. So the total was a week and 2 days.”

How did the participants get involved?

Ali: “Ciara applied online for the opportunity to be on the show. She has been a Disney fan her whole life. She described her time in the Disney College program and how this would be the perfect wedding for her. There was an interview process and they eventually selected her and D’Quan for the show.”

Was the wedding paid for by Disney?

“They went off our budget and then added magical enhancements to our big day.” Ciara added. Disney took care of them and made sure to make their big day as magical as possible.

Disney Fairy Tale Weddings - Magic by Ali Diane

Ali Diane is the artist behind the beautiful new song “Magic,” for this season of Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings, which was written especially for Ciara and D’Quan’s wedding.

Ciara: “Doing this show has been an absolute dream! From first growing up loving Disney to going to do the Disney college program and help perform the magic, to now having the Disney Magic unfold on the biggest day of a girl’s life! It felt like a dream! It still does!”

Ciara has known Ali for a while, so this was an extra magical experience for her!

Ciara: “When I first met Ali something just drew me to her! Her caring personality, to her spiciness and even her voice, when she sung during our breaks while working the Disney College Program! She instantly became my best friend, and I knew having her by my side during my wedding was a must! The song that she wrote specifically for my wedding had me in tears, walking down the aisle to a song that portrayed the magic that was happening all around us in that moment. It was the icing on the cake for my Disney Wedding.”

We had a few questions for Ali about the song and the process for creating it.

What were your inspirations for the song?

Ali: “This song was inspired by the Bride and her love for D’Quan. Ciara and I kept in touch after our college program ended and I was able to watch the couple’s love story develop from afar.  She asked me to sing for her wedding, and at first, I was going to sing “Can’t Help Falling in Love” for her.  We could not use that for the show due to copyright issues, and the bride did not like any of the public domain options.  I decided to write an original that was inspired by “Can’t Help Falling in Love”, but with a bit of extra “Magic” to match the Disney theme of the wedding and my relationship with the bride. I tried to imagine how I will feel when I walk down the aisle at my own wedding, and to put myself in Ciara’s shoes.”

How long did it take to create?

Ali: “The song only took a couple of days to write and produce.  I started writing the lyrics and melody while driving to work after talking with the bride.  The next day, my producer Jake Crocker developed the instrumentals and “Magic” was born.”

You can listen to “Magic” yourself here, available now.

It was a real treat to get to know Ali and Ciara. Congratulations are in order and we can’t wait to watch your episode of Disney Fairy Tale Weddings!
