MiceChat contributor, Jennifer Ruvalcaba, reported from Disneyland tonight (Thursday, February 6 around 6:30 pm) that a fire had broken out behind the Emporium and Fire Station on Main Street U.S.A.

We don’t know what caused the fire at this time. However, at one point, a call went out on Disneyland Security channels that some of the bamboo trees in Jungle Cruise had caught fire as well.

Thankfully, the fire has been contained and appears to be out at this time. As a result of the fire, power outages have affected the entire west side of Main Street and most of Adventureland.

While we weren’t able to get close enough to the area where fire was raging, one Twitter user did:

Our reporter described the outage area as stretching from Pirates of the Caribbean, through Adventureland, and down the entire west side of Main Street.

Cast Members have evacuated stores on the west side of Main Street, where the Penny arcade and Emporium are located. They were in the process of evacuating guests from Adventureland as well due to a lack of lighting and power. Jolly Holiday Restaurant was also closed and darkened.

The remainder of Disneyland is still operational, but guests have been leaving, many looking for food since so many foodservice locations are closed. Guests are being directed down the east side of Main Street to DCA.

(Update 7:24 PM) A Disneyland Official confirmed the following:

  • A small vegetation fire in a backstage area of the park was quickly extinguished with the help of Anaheim Fire Department.
  • No guests or cast members were injured.
  • Adventureland is currently closed-off to guests.

(UPDATE 7:45 PM) Cast Members are reporting that the fire may have been caused by an electrical transformer. Cast are being allowed to walk around in the effected area backstage, so the threat must be completely over. Though, power remains out in most of the areas we reported above.  Pirates of the Caribbean has reopened to guests.

(UPDATE 2/12/2020 11:30AM)

As speculated by this article, the cause of the fire was due to a generator. According to Frank Polizzi, a spokesperson for the California Divison of Occupational Safety and Health the fire was related to a temporary generator used during construction.
