Hey there, Hi there, Ho there! If you collect Disneyana or love Disney history, you’re going to be very interested in this auction at Potter auctions. I see a few early Walt Disney World things that are catching my eye, but there are animation sketches, performer costumes (all on the up-and-up), even a hand puppet once used by the Dapper Dans.

iirc, this was used in the 1970’s.

I love park maps. My EPCOT Center park map from 1984 is one of my most beloved treasures. This auction has park maps from the early sixties to the late eighties, just in case you want to have your favorite version of Disneyland up on your wall.

1987

Lot 80 is a Marc Davis lithograph called The Art of Marc Davis. I was actually there with him in his studio with his wife Alice Estes Davis when he was working on it. It was originally meant for Tokyo Disneyland but thankfully found its way stateside.

From Heritage Auctions

There are blueprints to the Indiana Jones Adventure, a Pinocchio head, silkscreened attraction posters from the US, Japan and Europe, original Herb Ryman concept art, you name it. Apparently, the original owner wants to send their kid to college.

What the shareholder call means for merch:

Bob Iger led the quarterly Disney shareholders’ call this week, and while he seemed the most enthusiastic about Disney+ than anything else (and I love Disney+), he talked about theme park profits, namely that while less people are going because of higher prices, those same people are spending more, so the actual profits are up.

I think this means that we’re going to continue to see improvements in merchandise throughout Disney properties and more experience-based merchandise options like Savi’s lightsabers or build-your-own-droid. I really like the spotlight merchandise, like the Minnie attractions series and the colors series, though I thought Arendelle aqua didn’t fit at all in with Halloween.

What do you think?
