Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in a few short weeks, on March 4th, 2020! And things are moving fast! We share SIGNS of change and the release of FastPass+ availability for the new attraction below, as well as the information you need to know about the experience.

And, Walt Disney Imagineering has just revealed the attraction’s neon marquee sign, which can now be seen by guests at the park!
The attraction will be hard to miss for the average visitor, as the neon marquee draws you into the centrally-located Chinese Theater – a previous park icon for Disney-MGM Studios.

It looks like we’re in for a real adventure! Especially with Goofy leading the way… what could possibly go wrong?!
About Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is trackless dark-ride with complex technology, which will likely prove once again the incredible show put on by Walt Disney Imagineering. Immersive screen sets, detailed set pieces and plenty of magical touches are in store!
Here’s the official backstory: “The darling duo are taking a leisurely drive to a picnic in their sporty roadster—with Engineer Goofy’s train following merrily along. Plot twist—you get to go, too! Climb aboard a runaway railway and embark on a whirlwind ride through a world where the rules of physics don’t apply. Prepare for unexpected twists, slapstick gags and mind-boggling transformations at every turn, as Mickey and Minnie try to save the day.”
In true Walt Disney fashion, this will be an attraction for all to enjoy! Currently, Runaway Railway is not planned to have a height requirement; joining Toy Story Mania as the only two attractions in Hollywood Studios without a height requirement.
(2/6/2020 UPDATE) FastPass+ Reservations Now Available!
FastPass+ reservations for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway just became available for guests visiting on or after the attraction’s opening day, via the My Disney Experience App! All available passes from opening day, March 4th, through the 30-day Passholder booking window, March 7th, were distributed within minutes. There should be some left within the 60-day resort reservation window, but they’re going fast!
And just a tip, check back frequently before your trip. As guests cancel their plans, space may open. There are likely a lot of people who snagged whatever reservation they could get, but who will ultimately not book a trip to the resort. Good luck everyone!
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Fun Facts
Enjoy some random bits of knowledge about Disney’s newest attraction:
- This is the first (non-theater) attraction at any Disney Park which stars Mickey, Minnie and friends.
- That said, there are more Hidden Mickeys to be found in this attraction than anywhere else, ever!
- The original tri-tone whistle from 1928’s Steamboat Willie was pulled from the Walt Disney Archives to create the Runnamuck’s locomotive whistle!
- The entire attraction will sound like a musical, with a new theme song and original music from composer Chris Willis.
- Sticking to “cartoon rules apply”, you won’t find any shiny or reflective surfaces. Reminiscent of hand-drawn animation, the Imagineers hand-painted everything – down to the smallest of details.
Also New – Mickey Shorts Theater
…And don’t forget about the Mickey Shorts Theater (get it? Mickey “Shorts”!), also opening in March! This will be located where Star Wars: Path of the Jedi was shown previously, next to Frozen Sing-Along Celebration.
The theater will feature a new park-exclusive Mickey Mouse Short and offer photo-opportunity locations.
