How many of you galactic travelers are excited to spend a couple nights aboard the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser once it opens in 2021? It’s been talked about as the ultimate Star Wars experience, and I, for one, cannot wait to see more about it. I’ve been digging around, and have found some interesting things I’d love to share with the rest of you who are itching to see how progress is coming along. Here’s an overview of everything we know about the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser hotel!
Galactic Starcruiser Construction
First, let’s start with the actual building site near Disney World’s Hollywood Studios. The are outlined in bright turquoise in the map below is where the hotel will reside.
Zooming out a bit, you’re able to see just how it fits off of Hollywood Studios. It looks to me, according to the map, that it may share a parking lot with the current Hollywood Studios South Parking Lot/Toll Plaza East.
Let’s check in on the construction itself, shall we? It seems to be coming along well. Thanks to the aerial photos from @bioreconstruct on Twitter, we’re able to see quite nicely. It’s interesting to see the front take shape, especially when compared to the concept art that’s been shown in the past. We’re glad to see that it’s actually going to look quite close to the concept if this continues.
And here’s the concept art. You enter on earth at a shuttle launch site. You’ll be shot into space to get to your hotel. Don’t be too thrown off by the simple entry experience.
Comparing this concept art we’ve seen previously with the construction below shows you that this is where you’ll be able to drop off your luggage and get ready to check-in.
Taking a peek at the building as a whole, it’s starting to take the shape of a Starcruiser. Once the facades start going up we’ll be able to see what it will look like once you’re actually ready to “board”.
This is the artist concept for what Disney wants you to think your Starcruiser would actually look like. The hotel/ship is called the Halcyon, and it’s a two-day fully-immersive Star Wars experience.
There will be many experiences that you’ll only be able to have while aboard, including lightsaber training for both kids and adults. It will be important to pay attention to your training, as you may have to defend the starcruiser during your experience.
Themed cabins will keep you in character and surrounded by the experience, as long as you stay inside the Halcyon. If you’ve spent the night in other themed hotel rooms on Disney property, I can only begin to imagine the huge upgrade these rooms will be.
One of the things I’m the most excited to learn more about will be the themed dining. The artwork for these dining areas looks incredible! There will be character experiences on board, so it’s not hard to visualize how cool the dining could be if the cast members are dressed in an array of Star Wars costumes as they bring you your meals.
Being able to visit the bridge, and other working areas of the ship will also be a part of the adventure. I’m looking forward to seeing how the cast members’ interactions will bring you into the story and let you be a part of the experience while you’re on your journey. I’ve seen many rumors about how expensive this two-day experience might be, and if they continue to promote it in basically the same way as they do actual cruises, you might be looking at upwards of a couple thousand for your stay. However, it’s all just a guess at this point as no price has been confirmed yet.
The project looks quite far along, but no opening date has yet been set.

Let’s Hear From You
The Star Wars Hotel could be described as a Cruise Ship type experience, but with a storyline added. You’ll be able to explore the ship, will eat your meals aboard the ship, will take a shuttle down to Galaxy’s Edge, you’ll experience encounters with aliens, and you’ll even have to defend the ship from hostile forces. It’s a few steps beyond your normal theme park experience . . . you’ll be living aboard the ship! Does this sound like something you and your family would enjoy?
Are you ready to book your stay now that you’ve seen the construction is quite far along? Are you waiting to see more as they work on the insides of the Starcruiser? I’d love to hear your thoughts on what you’ve seen so far!
