There is so much to do at Walt Disney World outside of the parks. One of the newest activities is the Skyliner Rally Scavenger Hunt at the Riviera Resort. This family/team activity takes you around the Skyliner Resorts.
General Details of the hunt (non-spoiler)
The Skyliner resorts include the Art of Animation, Pop Century, Caribbean Beach, Yacht & Beach Club, Boardwalk Inn & Villas, and Riviera Resort. While self-led, it is timed. You only have 1 hour and 45 minutes. But don’t worry, you receive instructions on where to go if you return late. Plan on a decent amount of walking, the estimate is 6,000 steps!
There are 4 different hunts, each including 2-3 resorts. All include the Riviera Resort. So there’s no cheating by following other teams. And no guessing either. Incorrect answers incur a 5-minute penalty. Some tasks require pictures. Some require counting. And then some required a specific answer of a location.
The winning team of the Skyliner Rally Scavenger Hunt is determined by the total time and the number of correct answers.
Leading up to the Hunt
The Eventi Room was opened just 10 minutes prior to the start. After receiving instructions we waited until the start time and were on our way! We received the Epcot Resorts Rally.
Are you ready to embark on a Skyliner Rally Scavenger Hunt? Spoilers ahead.
Start the timer, we are off! Spoiler alert.
Deciding to start at the furthest spot, we hopped the Skyliner to Epcot and headed to the Boardwalk. We had six tasks here, which is also the most tasks of any of the resorts.
Starting on the boardwalk, we had two questions on the specifics of different restaurant signs.
Then we headed up to the lobby for an additional two questions on details of the decor.
The last question inside the resort was not in the lobby, but rather a sitting area.
Back down to the boardwalk we went to answer our final question here.
Walking around Crescent Lake to the Yacht and Beach Club gave us the chance to read the next set of tasks and determine where to start next. Only three tasks here.
We headed to the shores of Crescent Lake for the first question.
Followed by a watering hole along Stormalong Bay.
We found the last spot at the Beach Club Villas and headed back to the Skyliner.
Off to Riviera Resort with less than 30 minutes left. Finally, our last four questions. Three were answered in the lobby area.
Lastly, locating the correct movie poster and translating the name.
Back to the Eventi Room and we were done! We won! Ok, we were the only team of the day. But nonetheless, we celebrated our victory and gleefully accepted our prize gourmet smores kits for the entire group.
Overall thoughts of the Skyliner Rally Scavenger Hunt
We had six people on our team, the youngest being 5. I was a little worried that boredom might strike him mid way through, but that was not the case. He was able to participate and enjoyed helping count and find certain items. He also enjoyed our prize!
I am an avid resort hopper and visit quite frequently. This certainly gave us the advantage, as I was familiar with the resort layouts. Therefore, I knew where to go to find most of the answers. And the few I didn’t know, I had a solid idea of where to look. If you are not familiar with the resorts it would take more time asking questions or looking at maps.
We finished in 1 hour and 35 minutes. While we didn’t run by any means, we didn’t really stop either. We did pretty much keep the pace of our little guy. A few water breaks, a bathroom break and we spoke with a DVC rep for a few minutes. Other than that, we were on the move. Besides your walking pace, the line for the Skyliner can play a part in your overall time. You never know how long the lines might be. Also, we had a non-stop ride for our hunt to the Epcot resorts. However, if you get the Art of Animation and Pop Century resorts, you need to transfer. This will affect the amount of time the hunt take.
We all enjoyed ourselves and can’t wait for an opportunity to try one of the other hunts.
The Skyliner Rally Scavenger Hunt currently runs every day from the Eventi Room at Riviera Resort. Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 11:30am. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 3:30pm.
