One of the striking things about The Mandalorian are the varied landscapes and use of colors. Over the course of the first season of The Mandalorian, we visit quite a few unique places. As I’ve thought about it, the aesthetic and ideals of the show would fit quite nicely in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. But what would be the best way to incorporate it so that it fits into the carefully crafted timeline of the land? Here are a couple of my thoughts, and I’d like to hear yours as well.
You’re Hired

The Resistance can’t be the only people hiring in Black Spire Outpost. Perhaps we could be hired by other organizations, like the Bounty Hunter’s Guild. Hondo as a character usually works best when he’s bantering with another strong-willed character. The absence of anything more than a few growls from Chewbacca is almost a crime against Hondo; his quick wit is a major part of his appeal.

This is something that could be expanded outside of The Mandalorian. From the very beginning, I thought there should be a Resistance contact. Perhaps Vi Moradi should be present to assist with the current mission since they’re the ones ordering the Coaxium. Adding a contact as a recurring character in each mission could really boost future flights on the Falcon.
Fly Away
When Star Tours was overhauled in 2011, the locations chosen were from the first two trilogies. Star Tours has recently had what has been described as final additions of sequences from the Rise of Skywalker. So, what’s to stop Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run from including some new sequences from a series as popular as The Mandalorian, which isn’t represented in the parks yet (aside from all the Baby Yoda merch)? Wouldn’t Smuggler’s Run be improved with the addition of new missions?
The 2011 Star Tours sequences were designed to be in-canon, much the same way that the attractions in Galaxy’s Edge are. For example, the Boonta Eve race you experience on Tatooine is a different race than the one in The Phantom Menace. George Lucas decided that to include the AT-AT walkers on Hoth, the battle you see is actually a different battle than the one that takes place in Empire Strikes Back. Taking that philosophy, WDI could take iconic locations from The Mandalorian and change them in a way where events take place during the current Galaxy’s Edge timeline.
Here are a few of the locations from the Mandalorian series that could be included:
Nevarro
The home of the Bounty Hunter’s Guild and a Mandalorian enclave known as “The Tribe.” The varying landscape lends an interesting aesthetic for the mission, dodging lava rivers and such. But since this is the home of the Bounty Hunters, we should expect some sort of contact from them. Perhaps they’re sympathetic to the Resistance and have some sort of bounty to bring them.
One of the major scenes in The Mandalorian is a standoff between the Imperial Remnant and the heroes. Maybe we can fend off incoming TIEs while Hondo picks up the bounty from under the First Order. We’d love to see the Mandalorian Tribe show up as well (or what’s left of it).
Arvala-7
The home planet of Kuiil and where “The Child” (aka Baby Yoda) was originally held. This planet is mostly desert, although there’s a major scene with Mando and IG-11 facing off against the base that was holding The Child.
Sorgan
A forested planet where Mando first met Cara Dune. This is a planet mostly inhabited by agricultural villages. It’s also where Mando and Cara fought off the Klatooinian raiders and their AT-ST.
This is another situation similar to Hoth where there’s no reason the same event couldn’t be repeated at a different time (later in this case). Taking down an AT-ST with the Falcon is overkill, though, so maybe the First Order could add more firepower!
Tatooine
Spanning trilogies, Tatooine is a planet that’s been home to multiple main characters and visited quite a few times. In The Mandalorian, Tatooine has cleaned out a lot of the scum that was around during the time of the Empire, even the Tusken Raiders have taken on a more approachable role. So by the time of Galaxy’s Edge, what might we expect? Considering Kylo Ren’s fascination with his grandfather, there are a lot of possibilities.
With that thought in mind, the idea of how all these places may have changed since the time of the Mandalorian is one that is most interesting when it comes to visiting them now. The First Order has occupied and cut down so many worlds by this point, it makes us wonder what other locations would have great stories to tell.
A Quick Thought on Timelines
Above, I mentioned that the original 2011 Star Tours sequences fit into canon. It’s important to note that the updated sequel trilogy sequences do not. Yet they’re some of the most fun sequences regardless of that fact. So the thought does come to mind, is it important to get all the details right in this case or is it okay to fudge it a little bit like the new Star Tours sequences? It’s all for fun . . . isn’t it?!

Let’s Hear From You
I’ve shared my own shortlist of places from the Mandalorian I think would make a nice fit in Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, but where would you like to visit? Do you think the strict timeline of Galaxy’s Edge is necessary? Would you like to see The Mandalorian represented in the parks? If not in Smugglers Run, then where?
